  1. Man and Machine: Man to machine? on That's Using Your Head · · Score: 2, Interesting

interesting as someone through that we would need to class, as tones of electronic doc would feed into your brain.

how about making backup of your life into several TB harddisk?

or how about programming a ultra fast computer with application which simulate responses the same way as you?

or, put it further, will there be a day that we can backup our mind and soul and reboot yourself in truely inorganic form?

By that day, will it be possible to be 'teleported' to different planet, simply sending you 'life and soul.zip' to a different clone machine via planetary communication link?

And, by that day, what is the definition of human and machine?

btw, will this be a movie plot of an upcomming blockbuster?

  2. Tech ? HK? on Hong Kong's High-Tech Technology Incubator · · Score: 2, Insightful

what ? it tooks $2b to just build a complex with 100 mb network? and it is call as 'cyberport'? and some of you just called it advanced? hope of the future of HK?

Here is a list of reason that it is doomed fail
    . HKSAR Chief Mr Tung,
. A group of Chief under Tung, who is racing to be next HKSAR Chief madnessly.
. A Govt controlled by groups of short sighted property development companies, with only money in their head.

If you add property market, with 'high speed network' and 'short sighted visioners' together, what would you come up? .. a giant video game center?

Network infrastructure is just one tiny block of modern technological advances. It takes at lease the urge to pursuit knowledge, patience, respect to research and development, to the person who are in the way to push the technologies forward.

All these can be easily found in various universities in US, EU... but not in HK. Why? the Govt just slashed the education budget and made radical changes in educational system that only the Chief of Education knows what is going on.

Remember the success of Sillicon Valley? Was it a 'cyberport' before the Nobel scientist arrived?

Korea is now getting strong in technology field. Anyone remember the days in economic crisis. The govt had cash for only 100 days operation. What turned Korea history? 'cyberport' ?

With a government like that, even there were a 100000Mbps network, the tech in HK will just go flat.

  3. What's next? on What's Next For Mozilla? · · Score: 1

How about making it to me a rock solid development platform?

Well. It started already. We have XUL and related technologies. We have thunderbird and sunbird. There is also a commerical firm out there to build and IDE using Mozilla technology.

To me, FireFox is good enough. slim and rock.

It may be better to push and polish Mozilla technologies for application development side. Just like M$ did when they push VB, VC, Visual Studio.... and captured a lot of developers to make applications for the Windose platform.

Personally I dont think Mozilla technologies, such as XUL, xpi...., are simple enough for average CS grad to grab them. How about building an educational site which contains dos, examples, tutorials, applications? Of course, we had developerWorks, XULPlanet, ..... However, those information just scattered across the net.

    Any more ideas?

The starter edition can REALLY reduces my confusion. The word "Linux" is blinking in my head.
