Exactly. I think this is one of those rare times where throwing the lawsuit bat around is actually justified (or maybe I read too many RIAA articles....)

I mean, seriously, the movie is about rampant commercialism destroying society because people are gradually becoming too stupid to resist more insistent and clever marketing tactics I'm sorry, I must have missed the clever marketing tactics in that movie. It's about people becoming so stupid that base marketing tactics work (without the need to be clever). .... Wow, I just realized what I was saying as I typed it .... Man, that sends a shudder down my spine.

What we are celebrating is the willingness of a scientist to retract his own work when it failed to be held up to scientific investigation and contained errors. Yeah, that must be why its on slashdot. If creationism wasn't mentioned in the story, you think we would even see this? Face it, you are celebrating this because the guy smacked creationist in the face. At least have the civility to actually say what it is that you are standing up for.

I dunno, like I said, I guess I'm not that scared of getting blown up by a terrorists. Certainly not one looking and dressing like this girl. Yet how quick are we to point out that a terrorist "can change their appearance to avoid detection" ? Oh! So she doesn't look like a terrorist and is a girl. Well, we must be ok then. That is the most obvious example of reverse profiling I can think of. No, she didn't make a bomb threat. Now we're safe because every nut job with an understanding of explosives announces their intention first, then blows everything to kingdom come. This is not scare tactics by some evil government intent on destroying your freedoms. This is a case of someone pushing the envelope and getting called on it.

Even wearing a shirt with flasing led's does not entitle people to point machine guns at her with itchy trigger fingers and possibly kill her. I'm sorry, but itchy trigger fingers ? So easy to throw names around isn't it ? Nevermind the fact that they did not shoot her.... no, they had itchy trigger fingers.

On top of that, there is no freakin way Dems are going to let Dubya head into another war, and even if we did, the Germans had a tough enough time fighting on two fronts, America jumping into another war would only say to Iran that we are way to busy to do anything about you guys right now, please stop being crazy for a little bit. Although I think S. Korea deserves protection, the only way I see this being solved is China using it's diplomacy with N. Korea.

  10. US Inundated ? on North Korea Says It Has Conducted Nuclear Test · · Score: 1

With the US being tied up as it is right now in the middle east, I see little that the military can do about this. I doubt political pressure is going to amount to anything either, seeing as Kim Jong-il is, to put it mildly, out of his mind. This is going to be left up to either the UN, or China-Japan.
