Here in Georgia at least, cops have to give you 100 feet past a traffic sign to change your speed. You might have a similiar law in your state, look it up. Also, they can't pull over anyone going at or less then five miles over the limit, or downhill on a greater then thirty-five degree slope.
People should know, speed limits aren't 100% absolute, there often are legally times you can go over them.
BZZZZT, wrong. Prohibition was passed as a constitional amendment. That means the people supported it. The 'government' really had very little to do with it. In fact, the entire thing was 'grassroots'.
Prohibition is less an example of 'government's efforts to interfere with people's lives failing', as an example of 'people voting themselves rules they don't intent to follow'.
I'd like to see the reference on this. As far as I know, pictures of buildings are not copywritten by the architect, and there is in fact a explicit expection about that, and on blueprints you draw yourself. (Photocopying their blueprints is illegal, but you can walk though the building and draw it out.)
Actually, you can get patents on perpetual motion machines, you just have to demonstrate a working model first. If I ever become a member of the Q continuum, it's one of the many things I will do, just to watch their faces. I wonder how long they'll make me demonstrate it...
While a really really cool hack, I seriously doubt you could actually put memory management in a kernel module...how would you load it? How would you run modprobe? You kinda need memory memory managment for that.
Well, I'd like to point out to you , instead of Turing, you should really be comparing Jesus to Frank Sinatra. Sinatra is partially responsible for one of the best X-Files moments of all time, in the Christmas episode of two years ago, when his song 'Have Yourself a Merry Litte Christmas' played near the end. While he is not gay, I think we have to take into account that Sinatra actually has product, abeit indirectly, a much better Christmas episode then Jesus ever did. I agree with the rest of this, though.
Shared eathernet is insecure. So is shared token ring. Sharing wires, unless you have some kind of encryption in place, is automatically insecure. But I really think you should get these people fired. Ethernet and token ring are just protocals. And ethernet's 'talk unless someone else is talking' does considerably better then token ring's 'pass around the conch shell'. Neither one of them has any security precautions at all.
Here in Georgia, Browne's polling at 5%, Buchanan is at 3% (sigh), and Nadar is off the map...yet no one ever mentions Browne. Strange, that is. At least, according to the LP.
You can find this on Napster, if you just search for Carlin. Yes, that's illegal, but I have a feeling of all comediens, Carlin won't mind. It's usually called Seven Words or something with that in the title.
I'm still waiting for him to do a monologue about the MPAA and/or the RIAA.:)
I find it hilariously fitting you wanted off into three sets of parenthesis in that last sentence.:) And I too cannot work unless I have more then one thing going on. At least some music I can sing along with.
That's nothing, I hear in some of this cult's sects, the wine and bread actually turn into flesh and blood in the body! Or so they claim.

I still want to know if what's going on in the book with M&M is even vaguely possible. :)

Huh? Fascist?
-David T. C.
No, it's just that someone repackaged the hoax with changing all references from US to Canada...or vis versa. It's still a hoax.

Except you also can't read any attachments they send you. Of course, as the attachments were probably .doc files anyway, no big loss. :)

Wow, +1: Funny. That's just...odd.

An NDA? About Hotmail starting to use W2K? Riiiiight. MS would be broadcasting that from the tree tops.

I thought this was ZDNet! Man, I'm really confused.
-David T. C.
Well, you can have the grits, grits, eggs, pancakes and grits. That hasn't got much grits in it.
-David T. C.
Heh...oh, crap, I just had to respond to that, but really have nothing to say to it. :) I'll go cry now.
-David T. C.
No, they couldn't, because this isn't crypto invented in ten minutes in someone's high school BASIC class. This is RSA.

That's NT crashing, assuming this is not a troll.

Um, the government does, in fact, admit there is a base at Groom Lake, aka Area 51. They just won't say what it's for.
