I can see the Blockbuster now! Little kid has social problems, is sent away to an engineering school, finds lovable and adorable information, and sets it free. Look for this in a theatre near you!

Come on! I'm an American! I don't even care what the earth looks like 5 years from now. All I know is that it's my kid's problem, and they better fix it so they can put me in a good nursing home. I need to go now, there's a bucket of used car oil out front and it isn't dumping itself in the gutter.
Now when I buy a product and need technical support, they can tell me that my keyboard isn't compatible with their web site! I knew this day would come!

Apple says a G4 is capable of 3 gigaflops. Since we know their marketing department is full of liars, let's say 2 gigaflops. That means only 8 G4s to equal the computer power of the Cray. I could get over 15 G4s for the price that they're selling that cray. Let's see, half the price....or full price? I'll buy the G4s!

Just what we need! Another copyright infringement lawsuit in the technology market. If I wasn't a nerd, I'd get sick of this crap.
My question is, would nVidia have done this if 3dfx wasn't such a prominent graphics card company? I looked at the copyrights in question, and I wondered to myself if ATI was breaking any of these in addition to 3dfx. Just something to think about.
This is an excellent point. Rumors (stress the word rumor) have it that there will be upgrades to the PowerBook line in the near future. The time limit makes sure peole don't hold on to their 5400 until the new ones are out. Apple sued leaks because they were stuck with old machines that nobody wanted. Nobody wanted them because they knew of the new ones coming out. This way customers can't wait for the new ones, but instead forced to buy the PowerBooks Apple wants to get rid of anyway.
I am the webmaster for Macinfinity, a Macintosh site, and we just posted an article on this subject. It deals with a lot of the topics that have been discussed here, as well as a lot that haven't. We included two different perspectives and hope that everyone will come out of it with a new understanding. The URL is http://www.macinfinity.com/articles/august00/leakage_opener/.
Psychological studies have proven time and time again that men are more concerned with sex than women are. It is a stereotype, yes, but in this situation we must look at the mass numbers. If men care more about sex, and technology is bad for getting sex, wouldn't it make more sense to say that men have the disadvantage? Maybe there are other factors, besides sex appeal, that makes the population of guy geeks so large. By simple logic we prove that there SHOULD be more girl geeks if we only consider sex. I'll leave the real reason up to the intelligent people who came up with the sex appeal one. Bah.
I would argue that it would not be a stripped down machine, but actually boost more features for the sub 1000 dollar US price range. I argue this because Apple is working on a unified motherboard, a board that all machines can use (with substitutions of course for bus speeds and CPU) so that costs can go down, etc. With this motherboard, reliability goes up and getting parts for them becomes again, cheaper. For a better explanation than I could give, go to a MacOS Rumors glossary page. http://www.macosrumors.com/terms.html#UMA
The thing you are all missing is that companies still can make G4 upgrade cards. There are ways around this, and it is very likely that Apple could post a firmware patch to remove the limitation. All I'm saying is that it's not a big deal and Apple's not trying to be the big bully like Microsoft would do in the same situation.

Apple makes machines which, in my opinion, look much nicer than those peices of crap, and you don't see nerds running around in apple suits showing off the design. Mascots are stupid, mascots for computer companies just show how immature and unprofessional they are. Facts get computers sold, not men in tin foil.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a nerd too (in my own little ways), but am I the only one who didn't understand this? Then again, i'm only 14 and my college classes don't go into that type of science.
Awwww, how cute. It reminds me of kindergarten when we learned to share. Now here's my question: What shape is this: 0
Is it: 1. A square
2. A rectangle
3. A circle
People called me Frag in high school, minus the R...
