So you want to play someone a song... using their computer? Why not just plug the speakers into your iPod? Then you wouldn't have to plug it in, make sure they have iTunes, and authorize.
And even if you DID have to authorize when playing iTMS songs, and you forgot to deauthorize, you can just go to the iTunes store later and in your account options choose to deauthorize the computers. Then you're back to the 5-computer limit, which is more than plenty since I can't think of anyone I know with more than five computers.

You can transfer all iTunes-purchased songs from your iPod to any computer that is authorized to do so from your iTunes account settings, up to a total of 5 computers (which, being that I only have one, is quite plenty). You can also put that onto an unlimited amount of iPods and burn it to CD's, even.
I don't know movies since I'm in Canada and we don't have a movie store as of yet, but I find the music DRM to be quite alright.
I remember using WMP on my windows computer a few years ago, when I transfered my library to iTunes I discovered that WMP had plastered DRM on all the songs I had ripped from CD. iTunes does NOT apply DRM to ripped mp3's.
DRM-pushing? If you don't want DRM on your iTunes music, don't buy it from the iTunes Store. All my music is from CD's, no DRM for me. And as for vendor lock-in, I paid to get the seamless integration Apple offers with my MacBook Pro, and it doesn't seem to me like Apple is going into despotic mode any time soon with a market share of 5%.
If he were trying to be a legitimate writer - and some of his articles are genuinely interesting - then what would he have to gain by making such an elaborate scheme of spamming? I don't buy it.
Hold the phone, no repair service?
I dropped my 4th Gen iPod into a POOL and all I had to do was request service at apple.com/support/ipod and they replaced it.
And since it was in warranty, I just got a new iPod.
Check your facts before berating something you don't know.
I think AAC is better than MP3, but I think that... just in case... if the Zune takes over and in 10 years Apple is gone... after I cry a little I'd still have a music library that's supported. Maybe.
But I might just be silly.

PC is going to be the new Mac after he switches. For reals.

iTunes songs are 128 kbps, but that's AAC, not MP3. AAC is far superior, although I still prefer my 192 kbps mp3 library.
