  1. Re:Silly on A Comparative Study of Internet Censorship · · Score: 3, Insightful

The correlation is real (and perfectly calculateable, and as you know this implies that either rapes make someone muslim, or that muslims rape (a lot) more than othres).

Leaving aside your appalling spelling, your 'either or' logic is impeccably wrong.

European cities with high Muslim populations also have high unemployment, especially amongst Muslim youths. Unemployed, feckless youths tend to gravitate towards gang behaviour, whether they are Muslim or any other type of flying spaghetti monster worshipper.

It's the gang behaviour that leads to the increase in rapes, not the religion.

Now I do have issues with the way that some cultures treat women - Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Somalia, Saudi Arabia..., but that is a cultural matter and has nothing to do with the religion - it's more a case of ignorant goat herders not knowing how to behave in a modern civilised setting.

Bet you'd get upset if I posted a similar comment about Jews - I'm sure statistics exist from the 19th century that highlight the increase in crimes in the East End of London and the prevalence of Jewish loan sharks, murdurers, baby eaters, etc.

Please define 'scientific proof', from what I understand 'proof' is a term that only makes sense in axionomic systems.

I think you meant axiomatic systems.

Axionomic is a contrived term used in 'political science' (note the quotes) that means (or sort of means, so far as it has any meaning) 'acting towards a preferred outcome'.

I'd agree that the GP's political point is OTT and irrelevant - the observation that people's choices tend to be conservative when dealing with life and death decisions in a natural environment is not affected by some observation that choices are less conservative when dealing with a social environment.

Sorry, that sort of 'artist' has missed the boat if they want remuneration for their efforts - the world has passed them by.

Live performances nowadays are the only way to make money, and just because recordings made money last century doesn't mean that there's an automatic right to make money from recordings in this century.

It's technological progress - get over it.

Nope, that's not true. "Terrorism" is not just a dirty word -- it refers to a very specific tactics to achieve ideological/political goals: violence targeting civilians. America's founders did not do that...

But (with a special nod to your sig) Israel's founders did do that - see Deir Yassin for a shining example.

Nowadays, people seem to forget about the massacres and the bombing of the King David hotel, but at the time the Zionist gangs were routinely (and correctly) referred to as 'terrorist'.

Nice pseudo-trolling, but you make the mistake of thinking that it's diplomatic and foreign policy bunglings that mark Dubya as especially incompetent.

It's not - as Clintstone said, "It's the economy, stupid!" .

Just like his dad, Dubya has let foreign policy overcome American interests, whether for personal gain on behalf of his cronies or from hubris.

Trouble is, he's even worse at foreign policy than his dad, who at least threatened the Israelis with a subsidy cut if they didn't stop building settlements (hint - was that why he lost the election?)

Yes - Dubya's foreign policy has been disastrous in PR terms, but far worse is the enormous defecit in both public spending and trade that he has allowed to flourish under his administrations.

Bush may or may not be a bad man - I just think he's a stupid pillock, myself.
