The major record labels have launched a copyright infringement lawsuit against the atomic element Cu (copper.) The complaint, filed in the federal District Court in New York, accuses Cu of providing access to millions of copyright-infringing files and slams it for touting its properties as a "low resistance conduit for those seeking pirated content." Cu has been unable to comply with the labels' requests to block access to alleged "copyright infringing electrical signals," as it is an element.
If you go to Help/About in the Xfire program, you'll find a list of employees. Some have chili peppers next to their names, and this represents who has eaten the masochistically spicy fire dishes at the local Thai restaurant.
Is that the people of the UK aren't citizens. They're property. Her majesty's property. For instance if you were to say to your friend, "I want you to hit me in the face as hard as you can." Your friend could be brought up on charges for damaging the property of the crown. So when it comes to being videotaped against your will, it's not really your will, is it?
I just upgraded to a Geforce 8800GTS with the hopes of it being my last upgrade for a long time. Sadly when hooked up to my 46" Sharp Aquos 1080p TV, the 8800 overscans a bit. Now with my previous card, a Geforce 7600 I was able to simply use the HDTV Desktop Resize function of the nvidia drivers to fix the problem. This function does NOTHING on the 8800. Nvidia's website says:
Question
Overscan/Underscan setting does not work on Geforce 8800GTX/8800GTS
Answer
Overscan compensation is not supported on GeForce 8800 based graphics cards when connecting to many HDTVs over a digital interface (i.e. DVI). To enable overscan compensation, users can connect to their HDTV via Y Pr Pb component output from the 7-pin mini-din connector on the graphics card using the cable adapter included in most retail boxes.
So this is a HUGE PROBLEM. Switching to the component output makes the card NO LONGER HDCP COMPLIANT. In other words you can only watch DRM protected HD content downscaled! Talk about a HUGE ripoff since the company claims the card is HDCP compliant, yet the cards don't work properly on common HDTVs!
Actually much of the copyrighted material IS available for free on comedy central's website. I don't have TV and I regularly watch the Daily Show and Colbert Report on comedy central's site. The problem is that YouTube/Google could very simply filter uploads titled "Colbert Report date/here" or whatever and they aren't because they get so much advertising revenue by REDISTRIBUTING the content. If users are clever and name it something else, that's out of their control, but YouTube/Google hasn't even tried.
This really rings true for me. After working as a Unix/Network engineer for 7 years, I burnt out HARD. Decided I needed a radical change in my life and pursued other things. I'm finally getting back into the corporate world 3 years later and realizing that when I was working 75 hours a week for a dotcom designing and implementing exciting new systems and architecture, I didn't burn out. When I worked for 3 years at a large hospital organization just to have them scrap the 1 billion dollar project and years of work, I realized that absolutely nothing I had been doing was worth anything (in a sense of accomplishment). By structuring workloads of a team so that each member gets to do some design work along with the drudgery, I think employees would feel a greater sense of satisfaction in their work.
Hi, my name's Ron. I've come under a lot of criticism lately, and I think it's unfair. My friend Steve and I have come to an agreement that we both think will help our customers, but some people seem unhappy about it.
It's really rather a simple deal. I promise not to beat up anyone who gives Steve some money, and Steve promises not to beat up anyone who gives me some money. I give Steve some money, and Steve gives me some money. Everybody benefits from this; both the people who don't get beat up, as well as Steve and I.
We've had a close look at our agreement, and we can't see that we're doing anything wrong. It's not like I'm threatening to beat someone up if they don't give me any money. No, it's Steve that's threatening them. I'm just saying that if you give me some money that makes you my customer, and Steve has promised to not beat up any of my customers. My lawyers have looked at the agreement, and they've said there's nothing illegal about not beating someone up.
I know that some people became upset when they heard about our deal, but I think they're just over reacting. You've got to realise that it's just business, and that means that it's really OK. People do things like this in business all the time, so it's not fair to complain when I do it too.
I know that in the end, you'll all get over this. I'm looking forward to you being my customer and in a way, Steve is too.
That's assuming they know where intel is going to be in 18 months.. My comment was mainly to show the absurdity of playing catchup as a plan. They need to differentiate their product, not catch up with the same specs.
When I got my video shortly after they were launched, I was extremely frustrated when on a totally fresh battery I was unable to watch a movie 2 hrs 17 minutes long. So I made a 3 cell LiPoly external battery pack and put it in an altoids case which I velcroed to the back of my iPod. I made the cord that connected the pack to the dock connector interchangeable so I could also use it to charge my cell phone. Final product held about 3 amp hours, good for about 6-7 hours of video, and only added about 50% more weight to my iPod/case.
TFA also mentions that pharmaceutical companies can't apply to sell generics of a drug in Russia without doing all their own clinical trials and submitting that documentation. I'm guessing that previously they could just use common sense and say IT'S THE SAME MOLECULE.
Think of the possibilities! With an MMORPG codebase, groups of interested users could fork off their own distros with whatever featureset/gameplay they want! The same could be said for graphics and art. This could spawn an industry, imagine developing your own game based on the OSS codebase and simply charging for access to your large servers/persistant worlds, by providing value added services like full time authors writing plotlines/quests.
I don't ever watch television but was at a friend's house to check out his new TV and he was showing me a show on an HD channel. What struck me was that when an ad came on, it was stunningly more vibrant and sharp than the "HD" program that we had just been viewing. With how lazy channels seem to be about the quality of their HD programming, it seems like a golden time for advertisers to make their products stand out even with the mute button on.
After looking around on their blog a bit I noticed the configurator software for the 3 key model is context sensitive: a different set of images/functions show up when ctrl or open-apple is pressed (the images were from the OSX software).
He states in TFV that it's impossible to hire the staff needed to make the prototype with a budget for 1 year. They would want job security for at least 5 years.

Perhaps Kotaku has described something very akin to a trade secret of Sony. This action certainly lends credence to the rumor.

That the business world just stop for a few minutes(days, weeks) while they fix this.

Intel will be holding still for 18 months while AMD catches up.

So scientists have invented a way for the machines to get cheap hydrogen power FROM OUR BLOOD?
welcome our new transparent clamshell overlords!
