    My server breaked.

    Clamav want to call me irresponsible to use a Fedora 3...!!!

    But surely they was irresponsible too due this.

    I was trying to upgrade clamav several months, but do not exists updated version available.

    I simply cannot to upgrade the server, nor to upgrade clamav.

    Solution: disable clamav.

    I completely agree with autor. Recently I checked a infected file in a antivirus site. From 32 commercial antivirus products available, only 15 catched the virus. Was just 47% efficiency. Nor the most *biggest* famous AV software catched the virus. AV, today, may be needed, but simply too much inneficcient.

    There are no magic. The first thing you must to do is to read log file /var/log/messages. For mail server, read: /var/log/maillog For Apache server, read: /var/log/httpd/error_log The best tool to read recent errors is: tail Use: "tail -f /var/log/messages", to read continouslly that log file, and find errors, so you can correct them.

    I would agree, but we must not to forget the impact on the business model of desktop applications.
    If you have Excel possibly is due Micro$oft sell a big number of licenses, offerted by a price.
    When this number drops down, may be Micro$oft be not interested anymore to sell Excel, or bill you a bigger price.
    So desktop applications possibly will be pulverized in smaller vendors, that will press you to move, or use it web based.

    They don't open their programs because they are not competent to offer services to their customers.
    They aren't a service-oriented company.
    If they would need to offer services to their customers, they will bankrupt.
    This is the reason to programs will stay closed until bankrupt.

    there are patent/DMCA issues holding back certain areas and many hardware and software manufacturers simply refuse to develop for Linux. Windows have many patent/DMCA issues, and when Microsoft is sued, they postpone, and after pays, and case closed.
    But the issues exists.

    The main problem is: "support"
    Microsoft is supporting many hardware and software manufacturers simply to refuse to develop for Linux.

    -How much time you spent to reboot you computer each time you install something?
    -How much time you spent to close and open again you applications, due to OS instability?
    -How much time you spent to reload your applications due to OS crashes?
    -How much time you spent waiting software cycles for apps like browsers/spreadsheets/Text editor/etc. doing nothing but fighting competitors?
    -How much time you spent registering your programs in phone calling?
    -How much time you spent due to checking software licenses at each use?
    -How much time you spent waiting to activate your OS at Vendor?
    -How much time you spent waiting due a filesystem not optimized?
    -How much time you spent reading this post to know what OS is better than yours?
    -How much money wasted all around world due crashes like that?
    -Time is money?
    -So, how much money you spent for using a software that waste your time?

    So, dont think you already waste very much your time?
    I suggest you change your OS urgently.
    You already spent much money.

    That Windows key is *completely* accessible when Windows is off. When you mount the Windows filesystem (NTFS) via Linux, for example, the entries are encripted, by you can crack them in minutes. So, this is only security by obscurity. Regards, Netino
