I was totally into hifi 25 years ago. Built my own speakers and amplifyer.
Now I am happy with computer speakers because it's not so important any more how the actual sound sounds, I listen to it in my head and there it always sounds super duper.
>And many commercial studio recordings are STILL mastered on tube equipment and analog tape, even now. Didja ever wonder why?....
I wonder why they haven't developed a digital filter yet that mimics that nice sounding distortion.
I disagree. The fact that it has been done for centuries does not make it right to cut of sensitive bodyparts of children. This can be done later if they want it themselves.
Of course parents have to make decisions that influence their childrens lifes, but some of these can easily be posponed till a later date when the child is old enough to make his own decision. I feel deciding whether or not to remove an entire erogenous zone for non-medical reasons would be one of those.
Do you die if I make an exact copy of you and kill the original.
What if I make 10 copies. Are they all you?
Me thinks not.
I think the consciousness living in these, what we call "the observer", the one who witnesses your life is a different one even if the memories are the same.
In unix terms: if you fork a process, it gets a new process number:)
Not to take any man's right to chose his time away, but many Alzheimers patients are not unhappy at all, but turn to a blissfull childlike state instead.
I've had it the other way round too. No notice. Appearantly they were at my doorstep 2 times when I was working. My package waited at the post office for 3 weeks and got destroyed while I was still waiting for them to show up. Not sure it was ups though.
The way to tackle that is obviously to not create one big moloch that monitors and regulates everything, but break it down into a tiny little subsystems, doing a single task that CAN be completely tested.
Microcontrollers, not serverracks is what you want.
These subsystems can report to an application that veryfies periodically if everything works withing parameters and report any anomolies sorted on priority to the humans.
This is how it is done in alarmcentres with all the firealarms, burgalryalarms, medical alarms etc etc.
That algorithm is ging to need the software tester from hell:s
and even then...... how do we know it holds up in all imaginable and unimaginable scenario's.
People tend to rely on computers when they sometimes better listen to that nervous feeling in their stomachs or plainly not take the risk and shut it down.
I always wondered why some names are translated (Bayern->Bavaria) and some not (Baden-Württemberg)

I'm still amazed how good my 10 year old philips (tube) tv with built in 5.1 sounds for both music and movies. It was bluddy expensive though.

Childish...
Duh, that's like 16 bits per core :)
Yeah, everyone can do what they want with their OWN body once they reached 18. Cutting up babies like that is a violation of basic human rights.
Even if everything about the project would be free, it would not be unethical to ask a fee for providing this service. That's just smart business.

I'd rather see him converted to ascii and printed.
Only Death speaks in capitals. (all others get annoying filter errors)
and hell shoul be raised in these cases! Good that you called.

Then their measurements are based on the average size of a tentacle.
Wich is not the same as a mix, and tastes and digests differently.
No sugar is sucrose. Different molecule.
I mean, maybe they good use a good laugh about it, and if not then don't watch.
It's kind of arrogant to assume you can predict who will be offended by what.
I wish the contents of those pepsi bottles would be made of plant materials, preferably organic
Detecting wich bottles are too dirty and not reusing those might be a way to cut down on the chemicals.
