Isn't that the same argument about guns - guns don't kill, people do. Religion may not kill but it has given people throughout the ages a reason to kill. those who don't agree with them. I suppose it could be worse, we could have religious nuts with guns... oh yeah they're called republicans.

Not much to destroy? Only the newly fledged parliament and all the MPs. It would be like blowing up the Senate building with all the people in it. Sure there wasn't much else around but this may have completely changed the course of British history.

  7. London Congestion Charging on Big Brother Gets a Brain · · Score: 2, Informative

We have this already in London - all cars in and out of the congestion charging zone get clocked by cameras and their number plates are fed into a central computer. Women wanting to know if their husbands made it into work today - or skipped off to play golf/see the mistress can call up and check if a plate has been in the zone. It wouldn't take too much effort to extend this out and use other vehicle characteristics rather than just number plates to track vehicles continuously.

Think of all those all-in-one remotes which 'learn' the codes from the existing remotes. Surely they're breaking the DMCA.

  10. Budweiser tried this in the UK on Geolocation Enables Internet Borders · · Score: 1

We do Budweiser's UK web site and for legal reasons their lawyers tried to force us to do this by using IIS built in reverse DNS feature. Problem was the M$ reverse DNS blocked entry to those who's IP didn't resolve. We ended up blocking more people than we let in. Case of the lawyers wagging the tail of the tech dog.
