You mean like people who chase the lowest price, no matter WHERE the product was made? How much of what you buy is made in places like China?
How many of you use illegal drugs--which goes into the pocket of vicious and violent people.
How much of the money you spend on gas goes to support terrorist activity and chattel slavery?
Public exposure and "naming names" is the only way to have an effect on this behavior, both so people know the effect of buying a product from certain companies as well as making the companies fearful of the bad PR that will come from using such materials

To sum it up/that/ particular chemical causes more problems than it solves, and since the only one it solves better than other available chemicals is/cost/, we don't need it.
The government's stance on Marijuana is based largely on the ignorance of politicans and to a lesser degree the general public. Their stance on heroin is based on a weighting of various factors to come to a decision. You may disagree with the weightings, you may even disagree with them on whether some things are problems or not, but it is a considered position.
