Dude, I remember back in the day when I got a Creative AWE 64 Gold card. That's right, the ISA one with the gold-plated RCA outputs, expandable RAM, and general kickassery.
In my experience, the only time it's worth having a discrete sound card is if you have a kick-ass set of headphones (or speaker setup). For the average $100 set of headphones/$400 speaker setup? Totally unecessary. Now, it's worth it if you want "surround" virtualization with headphones, but otherwise, again, totally unecessary.
Of course, if you truly care about sound quality, you'll just use a digital output (either through USB or Optical) and buy a nice external DAC, thereby completely bypassing any potential electrical interference generated from a sound card.
Note: I run an ATH-AD700 off my built-in sound card and I think it sounds great, so no accusations of audiodouchebaggery on my part, please.
Honestly? No, I wouldn't care. It's nigh impossible to identify those people.
Please don't mistake this for me thinking it's a good idea. I don't like the idea of them doing this for 'security purposes'...I'm just saying that between being groped by some random person, or being seen 'naked' by some random person, I'll take the latter.

That doesn't mean I agree with the fact they're doing it. It means that if I were in a situation where I had to fly somewhere and make that choice, I'd choose the scanner. That's very different than saying I support the practice.
That's one of the reasons we're driving 500 miles to visit my parents for Thanksgiving, rather than flying:-) Not to mention it's a hell of a lot cheaper.
My wife and I were talking about this yesterday. We would rather be one of the many thousands of people a screener sees "naked" instead of one of the people being publicly fondled.

The REAL question is, why are you watching the big news services? You realize they're nothing more than fear, polarization, and embellishment, packaged to sell advertisements...right?
I fail to see how it matters. I linked to an article I wrote that was directly related to the discussion at hand. How is that any different than copying and pasting the 712 word opinion? I don't run a single advert on there, so it's not like I financially benefit from it...
I was under the impression that their reasons for sticking with the older hardware had nothing to do with keeping the price down, but rather a way to keep things more familiar for developers. Since they were going to have to be learning an entirely new control scheme, Nintendo didn't want devs to have to deal with complex new hardware as well ("hardware" independent of the control mechanisms, obviously.) Now that developers (kind of) have a handle on the motion controls, Nintendo can give them more powerful innards to work with.
Standard "this is only my opinion, I have no basis for any of it" boilerplate applies.
