I haven't checked any mirrors yet, but from what I see here the demo won't be showing up on any magazine coverdiscs due to licensing restrictions.
This really bothers me. Not everybody has Cable/DSL/T3 in their area. On a 56K modem it takes FOREVER to d/l it. I understood when the test was d/l only, I figured they didn't want people to be running a 3 month old version by the time they got their copy due to publishing delays.
Now we are apparently in the same boat when it comes to the demo of the final game! Is there a legitimate reason? Or has id decided that all "real" gamers have moved into metropolitan areas served by high speed access? Perhaps all the bandwidth they are used to has made them lose touch with what many of us face?
The Windows interface sucks, so why not copy something good like MacOS? Or any other good GUI...except that god forsaken crap that crawled out of Redmond.

Isn't this basically the same thing as the Hotline protocol?

They have gone back to selling the same 2 zone burglar panel that has been on the shelf for about 10 years for $80-$100.
Apple won't sue unless they add the word Apple to the Store-Within-A-Store name. It has been used before and will be used again.
As much as some people like their choice of OS, nobody wants to be locked into using only that particular OS for the forseeable future.
It doesn't matter how good Linux may be, it still puts people into the same boat as they are with Windows.
For the first time in a very long time Apple's stock has risen clear above that of M$.
