When I was living 10 miles outside of town in rural Mississippi, I looked into paying for some sort of Business Internet. ISP's wouldn't give me the time of day. Best I could get was Hughesnet for a while but my VPN tended to make that almost unusable. A few years later the cell phone service became good enough for me to just hotspot off of it. About 5 years ago AT&T finally decided to hook up the fiber they had laid down across the street from me 3 years earlier. My internet cost went from 115$ per month for 15gb cap to $55 per month for whatever cap AT & T has and the speed and latency went up considerably. 1.5mbs to 15mbs.
Probably the old/. is dead. However EVE is amazing game with social aspects unlike any other MMO on the market and has had fascinating scandals in the past. Unlike other MMO's where the big news is expansions driven by the DEVs, EVE's content aside from the world and game mechanics is driven by the players. What you are reading about is some of that drama/content.
At least someone thought of Thread as well.
My first thought on reading Oort cloud was bring out the dragons!!

Watchman is fairly difficult to follow if you aren't familiar with the medium. Most of Alan Moore's work is like that, he tells 2 and 3 stories at the same time that tend to connect at some point. It's certainly not a read for everyone but I think his work is fantastic.
Try Hellboy there's a few graphic novels out. It's more linear but fairly good stuff.
While I used other pc's the first one I ever personally owned was a C64. Later I sold it and bought an Amiga 500 which I used up until grad school. It sits in my closet and occasionally I will pull it out and play some of the games that were specific to the Amiga. Its still the only pc I own (no macs so I can't speak about them) that can access two seperate floppy drives and not grind every other system process to a halt.
