    Maybe you didn't consider the possibility that from China's standpoint, the US started it, and the only reason the US citizens aren't outraged about this is because they've been outright lied to by their own intelligence agencies gone rogue.

    As far as I know there was a vague correlation with higher-than-normal aluminum content in the brain but no evidence for a more causal link was ever found. You can safely wear deodorant now, you stinky piece of shit.

    Well if they just blocked all traffic from outside police jurisdiction, and blocked all traffic from known/obvious anonymous relay services like proxies and vpns, etc., whatever else slipped through would be within reach of either hiring staff to moderate by hand.

    I think people here, and the Apple & Microsoft critics in particular, have a tendency to attribute to malice, conspiracy and even satanic influence to that which can be adequately explained as incompetence.

    Interesting that I keep seeing this sentiment echoed more and more these days wherever it's most obviously false. Almost as though someone was carefully trying to astroturf over anticipated negative public reactions...

    Through their own corporate-owned and public-facing hardware, which would be fundamentally different from if you were running a VPN through your own private servers to which nobody else has authentication credentials.

    Fortnight is big, but I think that on that note, the simultaneous impact of Splatoon 2 and Smash Bros. Ultimate are probably being underestimated.

  24. Actually, it might have a lot to do with the lack of controlled burns. I heard a rumor from someone on the inside last year that due to budget cuts, they were not doing all the controlled burning they usually do at the end of the year. His prediction that it would lead to a massively worse season for wildfires did indeed come true.

  25. They knew they would start fires. They knew they would damage public and private property. They knew they would probably kill at least a few people, too. It happens all the time. Climate change is just the reason they went over budget this year.
