I've been to "3rd world" countires, I spent several years in the Army. Our unit spent lots of time in South America build schools and such.
I also see the hundreds of homeless everyday where I work. Sure we need to feed our own people. It's always pissed me off how we run to some country in Africa to feed some kids before we look in our own backyards.
I also see tons of homeless people hanging out in the Public Libraries all day long surfing and checking their e-mail here. Maybe I've become a bit jaded...
Oh, and I'm rather well fedd. So, you can get your own computer.:)
What is the point of taking these things into 3rd world countries? You'd think folsk would try and feed the people before they gave them e-mail...
Although, these units might be fun to play with. Solar powered mp3 juke-box anyone?
Remember that google runs on linux. They seem to rank linux stuff higher just because. Or at least they used to.
If you want help try freebsd-hackers@freebsd.org and freebsd-questions@freebsd.org. The latter has a high noise to signal ratio, hackers is bettter but tends to get you a few replies like "RTFM asshole."
The FreeBSD handbook is pretty much THE reference for FreeBSD, and it's on every FreeBSD box that has the docs installed. You can get a dead tree version too if you want. I know of at least one other dead tree text on FreeBSD, it has regular updates posted to the freebsd-questions@freebsd.org list.
And what's this about no sound drivers? When was the last time you actually used a FreeBSD machine? Or, if you claim to be a FreeBSD user, have you not read LINT? There are tons of sound drivers. The pcm device runs many PCI and ISA cards. And what qualifies as "and the like"? My hauppauge WinTV card works better in FreeBSD than it did in Linux. The machine doesn't slow down when I watch TV. My USB mouse was spotted and configured as soon as I started the install. The ONLY thing I miss about Linux is the Nvidia drivers.
No, I'm not a FreeBSD bigot. I use both Linux and FreeBSD. If you look, I'm actually a Debian developer. They both have a place in the world. But, if you are going to post something, post facts.
Ok, I was Army Reserves not Marine, but it's all the same under the law. I did find that having that on my resume actually helped me land a job. People know that you can follow directions and have some self discipline.
As for the time away from work, you are supposed to be allowed the time off. They do not have to pay you, but they also should not require the use of vacation time. I always used my vacation time when I'd leave so that I'd have something of a paycheck. The part about having your job when you get back applies to being deployed, not your AT (Annual Training). Basic Training/Boot Camp falls under this classification. You cannot be outright replaced during your time away, but when you come backj they don't have to give you the EXACT positionback. They are only required to provide a comparable position.
As I said before I've only seen positive from being in the reserves. I've never been screwed around by an employer because of it. There was a guy in my unit that was layed off during an AT. Man you chould have seen JAG go after them. Nothing makes a company pucker like being sued by the military!:)
PHB: Well, if we train them they will all leave. They will have skills that they can take with them. Then they will be worth more to another company.

When there are Linux only games that Windows users want to play. I can't imagine why, if you are a Linux user already you would want to reboot with a CD like this. Like I said the only use this caould have, that I see is for windows users. And if it is for windows users who's going to setup the system to be burnt for them? Or do they install and setup linux then mkisofs it and do the burn, and remove Linux and contiue using Windows.
Wonder what they would think about his "theft" of their icons?

Wouldn't this be a logical thing since SCO is now owned by Caldera? Why would caldera continue to fund the further development of another UNIX variant, along with IBM who is fully behind Linux now too? It would just be rather odd that two Linux centric companies would together develop another OS to compete with themselves...
We don't produce those. It's VA, SGI and uhm somebody else. Debian sells NOTHING. We make no profits and only survive off of donations and awards like this.
You can use unstable (which hardly ever is unstable) if you would like. just because we don't make a dang press realse and have shiny boxes in stores doesn't mean we are not producing!
