A good Storage Unit will do a good job at maintaining the Hard Drives you purchased and keeping them safe. They can also handle problems with drives to prevent data loss, and notify you when a drive is about to fail. A good SAN or DAS is what I would purchase. We purchased a Dell Powervault DAS, and have been very happy with it, I never worry about Hard Drives failing because I know the DAS will take care of it. Some companies like Dell and EMC will know if you have a bad hard drive, and ship you a new one before you realize it.
I agree. You can't test when a piece of hardware is going to fail. I've purchased many Hard Drives for our servers, sometimes they last years, sometimes they fail after a few weeks. There is no way to tell.
There are many free tools for doing a surface scans of a hard drive, that test for bad sectors. Usually it's bad sectors that cause Hard Drives to fail, and that's all you can really test anyway. Hard Drives will fail, it's just a mater of time, that's why you need redundancy. Other than testing, keeping the System Cool, and Dust Free is all you can do.
Jupiter has been doing a good job vacuuming these rocks, if not, kiss your ass goodby, because there is no chance in hell we are going to avoid an extinction event.
Less than a drop of Botulinum will kill you instantly, compared to how much water is your body? Besides, is not like there is someone with a giant spoon makes sure the radiation gets stirred evenly in the ocean. There are marine life that can become highly radioactive and you end up eating a high concentration of radiation by accident.
Sure, it's all diluted, but what about the marine life near the concentrated radiation? It's not like these fish are just going to stay in one spot so no one will catch them. And what kind of mutations will we get from the ocean life in that region?
You fail to understand, that, I don't broadcast my personal info to the whole world. I have a Facebook that only my friends can see, and I don't post discrete information. You can use the Internet in a private secure way, at least from the general public. If you sign up for services and fail to read the fine print, then you're the only one to blame for what comes of it.
If you're providing all that info to the public, what would you expect people to do with it? I don't post my GPS location, and tweet what I'm doing every minute of the day. These people want to be noticed by everyone, or they are very naive about technology.
It's App to find people who want to be found. It's like posting your address in the White Pages, but not realizing that everyone can see it. I guess some people are just that stupid!
RTFA! "By November of 1989 fewer than 200,000 copies of OS/2 had been sold, in part because it was far too resource-hungry to run on most existing computers. It needed a bare minimum of 4 megabytes of memory to run adequately, in an era when it wasn’t a given that PCs had even one megabyte. PC World magazine later referred to the software’s “gargantuan size” and “lethargy.”
I beg to differ. When Vista came out, it was put on many sub standard systems with barely enough memory to run XP adequately. I've seen Laptops and Desktops with only 512MB of ram fitted with Vista. Vista also consumed a lot more storage, and hardware drivers weren't fully supported. It was even more of a nightmare if you purchased the 64 bit version. Windows 7 is not much different to Vista, and that's why Microsoft decided to hold back on any major changes, basically trying to play catchup.
Don't release software if the majority of hardware is not ready for it. Microsoft has made these mistakes several times, recently with Microsoft Vista. Software companies try to push innovations too fast, before anyone is ready for it.
Best Buy has some great deals around Christmas and Thanksgiving, if you can wait that long. I purchased a 51" Samsung Plasma 3D TV w/ glasses for $599 at BestBuy last December. No one else had anything close for that price.

That's total BS. SCSI Hard Drives can fail just as often as a cheap IDE Drive. Anything mechanical is prone to failure

I think you can find it in Abandonware
You wouldn't say that if I walked around in Speedos!

Have you tried running Vista with only 512mb ram? Even with all the Service Packs, it's not useful with that much memory.

Yet, the Government and mainstream media keeps telling us the economy is getting better, and unemployment is dropping.
Many years later, and all the Bees have died; the report comes - "We finally have come to the conclusion that pesticide does harm bees. Now what do we do?"
They'll have to do more studies to confirm this. May take a few decades to get an answer, if there are any bees around by then.
If CBS can't make money with it, than no one shall enjoy it.

Everytime I watch one of the episodes, I can't help LMAO they way they try to act like the old casts. Especially Spock!
We are all drivin by primal instincts. Unless we can develope Artificial Intelligence that can solve our problems, I see no hope.
