And what right do Humans have to decide the fate of this planet. If there is an infestation, the solution is extermination. Either we fix these issues now, or face extinction.
Because we are like a virus that can't help itself, it must continue to grow and consume and kill the host even though it will eventually mean its own destruction. Blame it on those few people who started the Industrial Revolution.
We don't make all our decisions based on concrete evidence, we just use commonsense. If the Tar Road is 200 deg. in the sun, and the grass is only 70 deg., I'm sure it doesn't take a genius to realize the difference.
I'm sure that's exactly what you tell your doctor when he gives you advice! If you thought Doctors are just telling your BS, you would'nt bother to go see one, oh but wait, when is your next Doctors visit?
No other species manipulates the earth's environment like Humans. Humans do so many things that affect the planet, I could write a huge list, but most people get the point. With all the technology we have today, and the need to feed Billions of people (a lot of which is meat), the world has drastically changed over the past 100 years. Many species are going extinct in just a short time, which normally takes millions of years. Humans have become a virus to this planet.
If you're doctor says there is a good chance you'll get a hart attack if you continue with your current diet, do you ignore it because you need more proof?
You forgot about all the Live Stock! Billions of Live Stock, Cows, Chickens, Pigs, etc. They produce large amounts of methane, so how do you figure them into your calculation? Also, don't forget to add the Land Fills accross the globe.
There is 7 BILLION people on this planet, and nearly 1/3 of the forest has been cut down in the last century. With all the polution humans cause, and millions roads that we built, how can anyone dispute our involvement in climate change?
RIM's failure is due to their focus on getting support contracts with businesses. They're biggest selling product was BES which was plagued with bugs and issues. Our company used to have a BES server, and almost every week we had issues with it. RIM's support was also a joke, and sometimes they couldn't even fix a problem that was related to their product. Put it simple, the rest of world moved on to new upgrades, and RIM stayed stagnant.
An honest CEO would take a cut in his pay, or even no pay to keep his company alive if he believed in it. I can tell you never was a small business owner.
The industry will try and find any way they can to suck money out of people. Even if you do buy into this, and some day you need it, they'll tell you there was a problem with the blood, or it will cost a fortune to use it. I'd be interested to know how many people actually benefited from this.
Science must be wrong if you disagree with it. After all, it takes years for science to test and confirm something to be true, and it only takes a few seconds in my head to determine that it's false. Obviously the results of brain washing by religion!
In order for Computers to be driving us on roads, we will have to remove all non-computer drivers, otherwise Humans and Computers will conflict with each other.
If you're going to only rely on sensors, your taking a big risk. Sensors can go bad, and in fact it usually ends up fatal in many case, IE - Space shuttle disasters, Plane Crashes, Train Wrecks, etc. I've had sensors go bad on my car many times, when their was nothing actually wrong with the car. You can't compare a few lines of code and some sensors to the Human Brain! Even military drones need a human to make decisions for it. Until we see robots that can think for themselves, self driving cars will be decades away.
I'd like to know how it can handle hazard road conditions, like Snow, Ice, etc. Also, what if something mechanically goes wrong with the vehicle, how will the A.I. respond to that, or even notice it. If I smell smoke, or something burning, I'll pull over to check it out. Seems like so many variables to consider, I think it will be decades before we have A.I. that can deal with all this.

Two words?
My old compass still points north.

I thought this site was about IT, and Technology? Since when has /. become side show for Foxnews and CNN?

I agree. If everyone became a vegetarian, it would do more to reverse global warming than removing all the cars on the road.

This country cares for the planet like their diet. They deny any bad doing till it's too late, and then look for other excuses as to why it happend.
That's like an obese person who eats junk food all day, and says his diabetes has nothing to do with his diet!

and the first ones to bail are the Captain and ship mates.

There is a difference between science theory and science fact. But if I had to choose between science theory or religion, I'll take the theories.

So these nerds Jury Rigged the WiFi in the motel, and when they are gone, the whole network collapses.

Maybe aliens just like playing God with lower end species in the Galaxy. Once they get bored playing with us, they move on to another place.
