As of 4/30/2018 Google has not removed "Don't be Evil" from their CoC. I know cause that's when I saw it right there as the first three words of the CoC. I just started at Google.

    Hey CmdrTaco,

I've been reading /. since almost the beginning and it has remained at the top of my bookmarks ever since. Thank you for all the hard work and effort you have put into this labor of love. So many threads have stayed with me over the years, particularly 911. On that tragic day, /. was there to share the pain. The larger nerd community is forever grateful for your commitment. Best of luck in your future endeavors and stay true to the news that matters.

    Cheers,

  5. NARA should continue archiving on National Archives Cuts Back On Web Site Archiving · · Score: 1

I think it is a big mistake for NARA to stop what they are doing. A centralized authority bearing the imprimatur of NARA for creating, implementing, executing and enforcing a standard of archiving is desperately needed. This standard is critical for future historians to be able to make sense of our collective legacy.

Halting now and distributing responsibility amongst the various federal agencies will foster a haphazard distorted view of the past.

You are damn right. I'm only 20 and I went to University for two years, where I learned, among other things, that "Institutional Learning" is a bunch of bs. I was recruited to work at a better University, full time without a degree. Now I'm high on the list of one of their Dept's.

If you want to learn, pick up a damn book. Download the source, demo, whatever. Buy the pieces and put the thing together. Once you know something ask someone who knows more than you for help.

Although I'm only 20 I have close to 5yrs. worth of exp. and they are paying through the nose for it. I get solicited for jobs every day.

It is true that a degree may matter if you want to do other things in life, but if you know what you want now, why wait?

Good Luck with whatever you all decide.
