The NYPD is one of the absolute best police departments in the world. Their resources rival the FBI and probably eclipse the military of smaller nations. NYC, being the financial capital of the world, has jurisdiction of all dollar denominated currency transactions. they occur in Manhattan via peering relationships through intermediary banks.

I think it is a big mistake for NARA to stop what they are doing. A centralized authority bearing the imprimatur of NARA for creating, implementing, executing and enforcing a standard of archiving is desperately needed. This standard is critical for future historians to be able to make sense of our collective legacy.

Just run WoW in vmware or parallels or xen or whatever. Use that virtual environment only for that purpose. Oh ya, use a virtual environment for most things you do on line, like, uh, surfing the web.

dont forget that zend costs in a commercial environment. that is where the speed lies with php. i would say write the whole thing in c and set it up as an apache mod. a good book is 'writing apache modules in perl and c', stein & maceachern, published by o'reilly.
good luck.
You are damn right. I'm only 20 and I went to University for two years, where I learned, among other things, that "Institutional Learning" is a bunch of bs. I was recruited to work at a better University, full time without a degree. Now I'm high on the list of one of their Dept's.
If you want to learn, pick up a damn book. Download the source, demo, whatever. Buy the pieces and put the thing together. Once you know something ask someone who knows more than you for help.
Although I'm only 20 I have close to 5yrs. worth of exp. and they are paying through the nose for it. I get solicited for jobs every day.
It is true that a degree may matter if you want to do other things in life, but if you know what you want now, why wait?
