    What's wrong with email as it is?

    I know it chews CPU time when a spammer blasts you, but that happens with all services connected to the Internet.
    Changing a protocol is only going to cause incompatability issues.

    But do you count the "origin" as the spammers country or the location of the servers?

    I see allot of spam coming from china but it appears to be mostly linked with US products.

    I'm sure spambots harvest this site and /.'s way of masking e-mail's is pretty ineffective against all but the most simple of bots.

    I was with hotmail before Microsoft came in. It's the only free provider I ever used, now I only use email from my own domains so that I am never locked into a provider.

    I think the problem is that established site's might have someone else take their name.

    ISPs won't have to spend a great deal of money on upgrading infrastructure, But is that really a good thing?

    If they had done that in the first place they wouldn't be in this mess.

    My domain danscomp.net as you can see here http://danscomp.net/ isn't a website, I use it for email and a variety of other purpose's that aren't all http oriented.

    Who the hell are you to say whether or not I'm using my domain?

    Why shouldn't I be allowed to reserve a name I may use in the future?

    Today I sold something on eBay without scamming the buyer.

    Where is my reward whats my incentive to NOT commit fraud?

    If I don't get anything more than the fair and agreed price I'm going to take the buyers money and not bother delivering the product. That'll show them.

    But how do they know what is and isn't legal content?

    Since they don't have common carrier status it is illegal for them to cache all the illegal content I download.
