I know it chews CPU time when a spammer blasts you, but that happens with all services connected to the Internet. Changing a protocol is only going to cause incompatability issues.
I was with hotmail before Microsoft came in. It's the only free provider I ever used, now I only use email from my own domains so that I am never locked into a provider.
My domain danscomp.net as you can see here http://danscomp.net/ isn't a website, I use it for email and a variety of other purpose's that aren't all http oriented.
Who the hell are you to say whether or not I'm using my domain?
Second, Why shouldn't I be allowed to reserve a name I may use in the future?
Today I sold something on eBay without scamming the buyer.
Where is my reward whats my incentive to NOT commit fraud?
If I don't get anything more than the fair and agreed price I'm going to take the buyers money and not bother delivering the product. That'll show them.
It just adds a new challenge now you have to chase the hotspot down the highway.

What's wrong with email as it is?

But do you count the "origin" as the spammers country or the location of the servers?
I see allot of spam coming from china but it appears to be mostly linked with US products.
Not forgetting to put a drill down the barrel just in case they do find the gun.
I'll stick to the wood bat as weapon of choice for murder, it can easily be disposed of with fire.

Wouldn't .xxx just be another extension and nothing more?
I think the problem is that established site's might have someone else take their name.
If they had done that in the first place they wouldn't be in this mess.

We have caches with all the legal P2P content and yet no decline in P2P traffic. So it's proven that P2P is mainly used for illegal means".
But how do they know what is and isn't legal content?
Since they don't have common carrier status it is illegal for them to cache all the illegal content I download.
