I personally think these notices should only be served in person. My point is that facebook is no better than email, somehow I appear to have side tracked.
The Spam part is true, but only incompetence at their end would get them flagged as spam (at least by my system). Then again considering they threaten to take legal action in the wrong jurisdiction, despite it being their profession I don't think they would be all that competent on a technical level either.
I once got a cease and desist notice served to me via email.
How else where they supposed to serve it? I don't have a public phone number, not that I even answer it half the time, no fax and I certainly don't check the PO Box my domains are registered to. When my PO Box gets full of crap every 3-4years the post office deliver it all to the door I then deliver it straight to the trash.
Serious notices should be served in person, email can take everything else, only fines arrive via snail mail these days.
Facebook is also unreliable, I have seen it go offline before.
If you contact me via facebook you are depending upon a third party to pass the message onwards to my email, just like giving the letter to my neighbour and saying "Can you drop this in #26 please" if this does not happen for any reason then the message is not received.
Whereas if they email me it is guaranteed to arrive in my inbox. Once my server accepts the email that's the equivalent of pushing it through a mail slot on my front door.
When I started driving there was a new suburb being built near by, all the roads here laid out before the blocks of land where even sold. Me and my mates used to tear it up along the brand new road there was nothing to crazy or dangerous for us to try. Now several years on the skills I learned back then have since helped me avoid a major crash on more than one occasion.
What we did was illegal but it was the best driving lessons any of us could have. That said I don't advocate behaviour that puts others in danger but depending on where it is conducted there are time when it's best to turn a blind eye.
Sometimes, people post as AC because they don't want to bother looking back for a response from a "slashtard" that is obviously not going to offer anything intelligent or interesting and,
No it's called Anonymous "Coward" for a reason. People post as AC because they have no backbone and don't want to be called on the verbal diarrhoea they spew.
I like to participate but registering just takes too much time. Some people, such as myself just don't like having to register for every little thing. I agree with you that it does cut back on abuse, but it also means you miss out on a few decent posters as well.
Sadly the easily offended are making more and more noise by the decade. I wish offendable people would just fuck off and leave the internet alone.
Or better yet, NOT revisit my blog repeatedly and keep getting reoffended over and over again. Or link equally fragile individuals to it so they too can be offended.

Because self defence is to create your own enemies by stealing their oil.
For about $10,000 you can have ALL the problems with that neighbour solved.
So if your grandmother lives in Canada you should pay Canadian taxes too?

Or you could just download for free and avoid this injustice.

What if I share that email address with my entire family and my kid deletes it? Have I been served?
No, but you have certainly been owned!

Am I the only one annoyed by gender-ambiguous names?
The worse is with gender-ambiguous voices over the phone. I'm sure I have upset many people over the years.
How is email not superior?
I have seen face book go off-line before, but not email.
We are required to provide the government with our postal addresses, perhaps if the same was done for e-mail we would see more use of it.
A new "think before you fuck" campaign is in order.
I thought Obama had already won?
I have always wanted to turn a Tesla coil loose on the street, unfortunately I can't find any Xmyth specials.
Pretty craptastic,
think free host.
Its not, thats the point.
Or "Buy insurance"
You mean the AC wasn't being sarcastic?
I totally agree with you.

Teenagers never cause crashes it's normally some old bitch picking her spoilt little shits up from school.

ask anyone who's ever lost a cell phone, or left a laptop on the roof of their car, or lost their wallet or purse.
This is /. there aren't any women here!

But how many people simply won't bother posting a comment when they have to register just to do so.
