    Although I have a legit copy of windows, I tried this anyway, and it didn't seem to do anything for downloading the DirectX SDK. (It still required the WGA test).

    Maybe this is only for updating to XPSP2?

    If it works with old versions of netscape, it should work with new ones. It depends on the browser tag that is sent. "Old netscape" is irrelevant to my comment.

    How bout include a user-customizable per-url or per-server based version spoofing system?

    For example, when u go to launch.yahoo.com, firefox will spoof netscape 7, when u go to all other sites, it will run default.

    This would make more sence since TFA seems to assume that there is an unsubscribe link at the bottom of most spam.

    Since most spam is illegal, why would they bother to put an unsubscribe link on their e-mails. If they do now, after this, they'll just remove it.

    The best thing to do is to slashdot the spam URL's where one would click to actually buy something.

    Download W2K3 Service Pack 1 from Microsoft, they have the same firewall as XPSP2 plus some bonus features.

    There's a "Security Configuration Wizard" that will help you config the firewall and services at a more advanced level than in XPSP2

    I am not their fan either, but they are withing their rights here, Besides who really needs a AV for unix anyway ?
    Keep in mind that the antivirus software is for messaging servers. Just because the server is running Linux/Unix, does not necessarily mean that the clients are. It is still useful to have a virus scanner for *nix to catch things in e-mail before it gets to the windows/client side.

    If this configuration is anything similar to the Windows 2003 "Enhanced Security" configuration of IE6, then the so called "mom & pop" users will be completely clueless on how to do anything.

    Good point.

    Keep in mind, just because the CPU happens to be Intel/x86, doesn't necessarily mean the rest of the architecture has to be compatible with current PC's.

    Although it would be nice for MS to have some more real competition.

    The above quote implies that currently it is not in encrypted form.

    If you're going to need a central server for this (as the article says), why bother paying to upgrade the software, just setup a good firewall box somewhere that also scans viruses/worms on the mail ports to secure bad stuff from coming in from the outside world, and secure access to machines on the inside.

    Clearly a joke, the spam filters will think it's a nigerian scam. However, it's scary to think that it is possible that such an alert could be real and marked as spam with a very high score.

    There can be as much as 32 seconds difference between various time measurements. There's GPS time which does not use leap seconds, and a few other standard times, all with different variations.

    Look up the "leap second"
