From the article. I got the device can handle it, so we can be sloppy. I really don't need a high resolution image of a solid blue box, with a logo taking 1/4 of it. Just show the logo, and put it behind a vector image of a blue box. Most of my more complex apps on my phone actually take much less size, then a glorified web browser app. Just because it was coded to do something, and not just so they can say it is a Mobile App. And force you to use that then a normal webpage, because you used your phone to connect to the website.
They needed an other source to make their data look interesting and add an additional buzzword for the search optimization. Google and Gmail makes sense, as there is a lot of serious needs for this. I am getting for Facebook, I expect much of that is for facebook messenger. Because IRC, AOLIM, are out of date. Because... Reasons?
Normally in science the simpler the answer that fits the given data is considered the most likely. Given Dark Matter and Dark Energy are more or less scientific terms for paranormal activity ( just so people just don't go thinking it is cause by ghosts ) but right now they are a name of something, we are not quite sure how to measure and observe, it is just a variable if filled into the equation seems to fit the data that we observe in the universe. Now as we learn more and collect more data and get better tools for observation, These variables could actually be shone as true, or perhaps there is an easier explanation that will be shown, such as having a higher number of black holes, which is a concept that we humans seems to better understand and grasp intellectually.
I expect you may have one with fancy features such as led back-lighting. The only feature my mechanical keyboard has that isn't plug and play, is nKey rollover enabling over USB
Depending on how the system handles the failure, you may not need to know to use the backup systems. If the GPS is saying lost signal. Yep use the backup system. If the GPS is 1 degree off, you may not realize the problem until it is too late.
Even with non-naval jobs. At work we keep a live nightly backup of the data, and archive the rest. More often then not when there is a problem, the nightly backup isn't good enough and need to dig in the archive then find a way to merge the data back. Because it was such a small problem at the time, it wasn't noticed until that problem was allowed to grow.
The problem is when other people take the things that you did wrong in the past to prevent you from contributing your new idea, which may be right.
While progress is made from making mistakes learning from these mistakes and make a better plan. Our culture is looking for Mr. Perfect who makes no mistakes, who will come to save the day.
This is like a congressman making a bill, and states this bill if effective should meet these criteria to be consider a success, if it doesn't meet the criteria or has some problematic unknown consequences. Being the first to stand up an repeal the bill. And propose a new one which should fix the problems.
This rarely happens first because most politicians suck at science. And secondly failures at any degree cause long term problems, politically as the person looses credibility.
The problem is the average viewer really doesn't care who made the show or movie, but wants to watch the movie. A bunch of streaming services for every studio is going to be prohibitively expensive on the end user, who may want the service for 1 or 2 shows. Then will the streaming service be offered on the device of their choice. I watch most of my Netflix and Hulu on my Wii-U but HBO and CBS doesn't offer it for that device as the Wii-U isn't popular.
If you are going to compete with Netflix at least try to get more content and not just a path to show yours because you have a higher profit margin. Because I expect that higher margin will be at the expense in overall revenue.
You will need a computer to read the specs, and realize the requester has no idea on what they want and build what they actually want vs what they have requested. Anything short of that will just be a fancy UI on top of an existing language.
In Science fiction, we have voice control and these 3d holographic displays... It makes the future seem all cool and such however in real life it would just suck.
Voice control is mostly used as a way to push the narrative so the actor can act and we get an immediate response back. "Computer give me all references of Darmok" "Computer give me all references of Tenargra"
vs Select count(*) cnt, Location from UltraBigDB where data like '%Darmok%' or data like '%Tenargra%' group by Location having count(*) > 1 order by 1 desc
In these rooms there is so much cross chatter work would be a noisy place.
Then you have those 3d holographic displays. Looks cool on TV, and that way we can see the data, with the actors face, however having text on your normal background, will be real annoying with all the moving stuff. 2 While video has its place, so does normal text that we can read and write too.
I prefer how to Directions. How to videos can be a supplement. But normally when I look up on how to do something, I am already 90% there, and I am just running into a small roadblock.
Well more then news. What really gets me pissed is searching for information on how to do something, other then getting a good document where I can skip a lot of the intro stuff which I already know, and get to the segment I need some detail in. I have to watch the video showing how to open a file, scroll down....
However this close nit community also has a lot of herding mentality. While Independent in nature, they also need to rely on everyone. So chances are they may change their personal belief, if that is what the others strongly think. And the bastard who everyone hates, may also be the only guy who is not afraid to tell you the truth.
As I stated, using fancy words to express a Juvenal topic. The information may not be wrong, but the objective is against the objective of Google. Google is trying to make sure the culture is friendly to all people, such abstract topics, with generalization only brings up two sided problems.
Just because your data is right, doesn't mean your conclusion is good or moral.
Here is the question. Does the NBA have rules that would prevent Men under 5'5" from playing? If this person was fast, and could jump and hold his own professionally then he could be in the team. You can't use statistics to make decisions about an individual.
1. Just because Trump is complaining about being treated unfairly, doesn't mean he is being undermined. He doesn't realize the diversity of the nation and the diversity of his own party. During the Obama care debates we had the "Blue Dog" democrats who pushed for the ACA to be far more conservative then a lot wanted. However actions such as using the Nuclear options to bring in a supreme court justice. And only 3 republicans voting down Trump Care (Just enough to make it fail) isn't undermining, but just doing what they feel is right for their constituents.
2. This "soft coup" is from our elected representatives who are up for election next year. Knowing that Trump has lost the Popular vote + low approval ratings, tells them that the direction he is going isn't a political good one, so they will do their job as the constitutional Check and Balance.
Trumps agenda isn't the republicans agenda. However chances are Trump will not veto any republican bill. The left leaning people are not really getting what they want, they are just avoiding what they feared.
Yep: Boys vs. Girls is an adult discussion. I must had be educated in a sophisticated elementary school. Sure he used adult words, but it is based on the "Fear of Political Correctness" where his majority status may be somehow diminished because they are trying to treat everyone equally despite the statics of the particular demographics.
The problem is not necessary it is offensive, or incorrect. But the idea of treating the individual based on generalities of that group is wrong. Men under 5'5" tend to be more aggressive. Bill who is 5'3" who is actually good nature, is being turned down to management because statistics say he will be too aggressive for the company culture. Then if Bill feels left out and complains it is just his natural aggressive nature reinserting itself.
Gerrymandering is tough to be fare. Do you take a city and split it into two and split it with a rural area, To either get two people from the same party, while having no representatives from the other. Or do we have the full city. to get that one party, while leaving room for easy wins for the other.
The biggest problem with the American System today, is if the minority party (right now the democrats) even if it is a slim minority. Have been drained of all power, so the majority party (right now the republicans) is pushing their agenda without taking consideration of close to 50% of the population. This also happened when Obama got elected, and this is why the Republicans came out in force mostly against the ACA, not because of the bill itself, but because it was a major policy pushed without discussion from people representing close to 50% of the population. Luckally right now they are a few moderates in the majority party who realizes that they need to keep their whole state in mind, and not just the political party.
Attention is a numbers games. Having a thousand people in a big city turned away from voting due to corruption finding way to stop the vote from the group they don't want. Will get more notice then in a small town where only 25 people are turned away.
However in the rural town, those 25 people can really turn the election. Being that they can get away with it, without much media attention. Means chances are that they will. Small towns also have a smaller base of people who are qualified to run. So the Used car salesmen may run for mayor because he is the most prominent person there, but perhaps not the most ethical.
There is problem with peer review too. There is often the patented idea, that is so simple and elegant, that the reviewer would go, why didn't I think of that, and flag it as obvious. Where it actually is a new and unique idea, where the inventor deserves credit and compensation for the idea. While they are other ideas that will tech-talk its way around the peer reviewers who may not be able to see past the BS and will never admit they didn't get it. And approve it for the fact it egged the system, for a complicated worded version of a common thing, or a natural progression.
Nearly every system can be hacked. What we need is a justice system that deals with justice and not just the letter of the law, but determine if the people are abusing the law, then they really shouldn't be allowed to be doing so.
Just like if I was driving at the posted speed limit during a dangerous driving conditions, I could get pulled over and ticketed for speeding, even for following the letter of the law.
There is a reason why we have power plants spread across the world vs 1 or 2 really big ones in every country. It is getting the power produced from the plant going to the homes. A lot of that energy is already being turned into heat and sound just from the resistance of the cables. Sure smart grids, help the problem, but it doesn't solve the problem. That is why I much prefer local energy production, solar panels and or wind turbine with battery backup on your home, perhaps with a small grid shared with your neighbors. While the cost may be higher, it offers a degree of freedom in your living, and you can mostly keep or sell the energy that you don't use. Vs. hooked up to a grid of either noticeable hanging cables, or having crews dig up your yard and regulations to make sure you can't dig in your own property. And if you don't pay your bill your power gets cut off, placing you in a situation where you cant make more money.
If we could Green Energy could probably fit well in a conservative agenda, if we could get big oil and the religious extremists out of the picture.
From my experience, it is the locals are the ones who slow down anyways. But the rest try to go fast to try to not show that they are not local.
I have a long dangerous road that I need to commute to work every day. I know the spots where I should go below the posted limit and spots where I can go above. Normally what happens is there is some guy (normally out of state) who will pass me in an angry rage because I was going right at the posted speed limit, only for him to hit his breaks hard a few more hundred feet away as things get unexpectedly tricky, where I end up catching up with him.
I know the road, I know that a couple people die on this road every year. And often there is an accident every month.
In short... It is there fault. They should be driving slower for the optical illusion, not ignoring the illusions and accidentally hitting the real ones at full speed. You can't fix stupid. But you can make stupid pay for their own mistakes.
From the article. I got the device can handle it, so we can be sloppy.
