The problem with Google Glass, Snap Spectacles, iWatch... Is the fact that we are carrying around a computer that 20 years ago would be the size of 2 refrigerators (One for the computer, one for storage) With a full desk worth sensors and cameras. All this in a pocket sized computer that we call a telephone. For the most part it is convenient enough for most tasks, and these extra devices only add a marginal improvement factor, with a tradeoffs, that make them not so effective.
It is bigger then on-line, it is putting all your product into any one retailer in general is risky. The product that you sell that accounts for 100% of your profit is 1% of the profit of the retailer. Their interest in selling your product is limited to if they can make money from yours, or if your spot can make more money then something else.
If your product is a liability then chances are you going to loose that retailer.
They are not certified for viewing the eclipse. Not being certified doesn't mean they won't work, but not tested to prove that it does. When buying safety equipment, you need to make sure it is design to protect you from what you need it to protect you from. Welding masks, can come in a verity of different levels. From slightly darker then sun glasses, to nearly opaque. As well googles and masks are mostly designed for people who are looking down, if you are looking up, will it fully cover your eyes.
Sure 99.9% will probably be just as good if not better. But they are not certified for the job, so trying to buy such products to do an activity it isn't certified for is dangerous. And these products are trying to be advertised for this activity.
Yes, they didn't sell the certified products. Hoping to make a fast buck off the eclipse. Their products could in fact be safe, however because they are not certified, we don't know. And the seller doesn't really know either, but they got them and tried to sell them anyways. Too bad, so sad. But that is what you get trying to sell non-certified safety products. A warehouse of unsellable products. Next time they will learn to be more careful when trying to sell such things.
This has nothing to do with Net Neutrality. It is their servers, they can choose what to have on it and what to delete. Because of a slew of laws that may or may not make the information holder liable for for the content. It is safer to take off what would be considered dangerous.
After reading this, I feel this would be fuel for climate deniers. By showing these naturally occurring volcano are what is melting the ice. And not the Ice keeping them cool enough to not go off.
The Science reporting and bringing up climate change, before we have done a lot of research is politically dangerous.
The problem is the banks, don't like normal citizens. With penalties on being too poor (High Interest Loans, too small of a balance, overdraft fees, etc...) If you try to get out of the bank they charge you for leaving the bank. As a citizen and getting dinged for trying to survive, they may not like these banks.
If you had millions of dollars in the bank, they treat you like gold, give you low interest loans, greater interest on your account....
Yes I understand the millionaire is a lower risk, so they get these perk, because the chance for reward is so high. However ethically it is bad.
When you put your money in the bank, they just don't lock it up. Awaiting for you to take it out. They invest it, they will use your cash to give people loans who pay it back with interest (where the old fashion savings account gave you a little bit of it). Banks do have FDIC insurance, so if those investments fail, your personal savings up to $100,000 is protected. But when you put your money in the bank, it isn't your money, it is the banks, to do what they want. As an agreement you are allowed to take the equivalent values back.
My main question is what is to stop a Credit Union from being just as dishonest and corrupt as a bank?
Not-For-Profit, is more of a Tax thing, then a change on how one does business. Except for Profit there is excess revenue, which could then be used for a lot of things, such as paying the CEO more money, or investing back into the organization. Finding loopholes to find a way to scam people to increase the excess revenue is just as bad as a company finding a loop hole to scam people to increase profit.
1. Diversity brings up more ideas and ways of doing things. We grow up with different problems and challenges, these help model our adult self's. 2. Offers a larger talent pool to pick from. If people are not applying to your company because it seems like it will be an uphill battle, they probably wont apply. 3. Good PR. Keep the press off your back because you have for a culture of BROgrammers.
Especially in the west coast the culture of these companies are hostile to women and minorities. Where often if hired they will feel left out and not included, or valued. So they will not continue in the job. And worse, these groups when deciding what they can do for a career in the future will shy away from such fields.
Many of these people don't have a chance to prove if they are better programmers, because they can't get a job. Increasing diversity doesn't mean that if you are part of the majority your job prospects are going to be much harder. Normally diversity goes with company growth, so they will still be available work and promotion aspects for the white male.
Yet an other one sided Apple Rant. However if you don't like safari then don't use it. If you like safari for everything, except the favicons then choose how important favincons are. If you like every thing in safari, then all means use it. I use Chrome, mostly due to better HTML 5 support, however if others are using a different browser. All the power to them.
We are no longer in the Bad old days of IE 4-6 Dominance. We can use different browsers and for the most part the page will render properly and things will work. Plug ins and OS particular features are no so common anymore.
Amazon has learned how to utilize the UK Tax system.
The problem with progressive taxing, is that the rich have resources to to move their money around so they appear poor to the taxing institution. The poor don't have such resources so they look like they are doing well enough be taxed at a bracket they actually hurts them.
A conservatives group... Not conservatives. A liberal group... Not liberals.
We are not Fox news here. These groups that divide our country in half, have many different subgroups that may have more radical or moderate approaches.
Googles culture is rather well documented. They for the most part want a small set of people in personality, intelligence and attitudes. Hence the long application process asking a lot of things, not job related, you could be the best in your field, but they won't hire you if you are not going to fit in the culture. Then they are the riddles and tests, to make sure you solve problems as the other people. This works for Google, there are a lot of clever people who work well with each other. However they sacrifice sometimes getting talent and diversity in skills as well. As a conservative person could have a different approach to problems, aka this is already built, lets just use this.
But that culture is better for a different company. IBM or Microsoft?
1. Racism and Sexism have historically have not been considered political or religious speech. 2. Whistle blowing a policy to increase diversity, that people seem to know about, isn't whistle blowing.
Google is all about culture. It isn't for everyone, it isn't for me. However is an employee seems to be at odds with its culture, they may get fired. Not because of their views, but by actions showing defiance to such culture. Employment at will means you can get fired if you just not a right fit. The law put exceptions for a detail list of things, Race, Religion, Gender. Sexual orientation.
However posting a manifesto opposing a policy that the company is trying to incorporate can get you in trouble, what is worse, he made it public and the media got its hand on it. So if they keep him, it is validation that Google is sexist (As that was main thesis), so we will fire him, and just get complains from people they wouldn't want to hire anyways.
Computer Science Majors would normally sacrifice weight, and thickness for better performance.
Heck I would like a laptop built like those old hot rods, where the CPU is sticking out of the case, because it has a full workstation/server CPUs on board.
Exactly. Usually one sided arguments at least try to state reason why the opposing side has its ways (often rather lame, or goes into conspiracy theory), but that is better then just nothing.
Does this open up security concerns? Is this AML a new thing that will probably be put into the next version iPhone 7s and 8? Did Apple ever get the Specs for this? Could this conflict with something else...
Apple tends to have a slower development schedule then Android, and Apple is less likely to release partial implementations. But stating it is easy, without actually knowing all the details, is rather stupid.
I am not sure of the benefit purpose of a pure random generation. Or concept of data encryption relies on the fact that we can get the same random numbers, given the correct key. Now we can improve on the randomness of these numbers so the next value will be less predictable, but it will still need to be reproducible for so the system can decrypt the data.
Other uses of random data, for the most part seem random enough, and most of the problems seems to just be from poor implementation of existing random number generation.
Looking at average data speeds for my home usage. I found that home network speed seems to double every two years. As the speed increases additional services are offered. Saying we are good enough is meaning we as a society are ready to stagnate.
However the GMO Crazies are mainly a subset of all companies are evil crazy. Means an article posted by them, will immediately be considered false and lies. Much like a report from the Tobacco industry saying smoking doesn't cause cancer. And the from the Oil Industry saying carbon doesn't cause global warming.
Granted they should had posted it with their own name, just so if other independent results confirm it, they look all the better.
But in general for Science Reporting for man made things, are politically charged. Liberal groups have a hard time accepting science which says man made product is safe. (GMO, Vaccines) Conservative groups have a hard time accepting science saying that a product is dangerous. (Global Warming, Tobacco)
In a culture where we are unable to trust science, because of all the bad science going on.

Are they going to build factories to speed up production to meet demand, for a product that no one will want to use in over a week?
Supply is quite limited compared to the current demand, then after the eclipse there will be a surplus. Bubble economics at work.
The interesting thing about cheap knockoffs, is the fact that they are cheap.
They are not certified for viewing the eclipse. Not being certified doesn't mean they won't work, but not tested to prove that it does.
