Perhaps massive waves of radiation or solar flares or cosmic rays have been headed to the earth for thousands of years and we could all die tonight, or maybe it'll happen tomorrow and our great^10 grandchildren will be the ones to see it happen. Or maybe, just maybe, we'll all be infused with the power cosmic, enabling us to stretch our bodies in ways previously thought unimaginable, or crush cars with our rocklike hands, or ignite the heavens with a mere thought. I mean...think of the possibilities!

Although, if you look on the screen behind Jobs when he's discussing what won't be allowed, one of the items that pops up is "Bandwidth Hogs." That's a little too vague for my liking. Is that meant to imply we're not going to get streaming content, internet radio, etc.? Or is that meant specifically to limit p2p applications?

Really? I'm at about 75 WPM now overall, so how much of a bump can I look forward to if I switch to Word2007? I'm hoping to be able to get enough finger friction to reduce my heating bill by 15% in the winter.

didn't think about that. I guess the appropriate question would be "why require an unlimted data plan" then, although the question ends up being more rhetorical.

  7. So essentially on Apple and AT&T Announce iPhone Service Plans · · Score: 1

I looked at the Family plan pricing, thinking "oh, $80 isn't too terrible for unlimited data, 700 shared minutes & free mobile to mobile." Until I noticed that they're charging you an extra $30 for every iphone you attach to the family plan. Just to be clear: they jack the price of the regular family plan if even ONE person in the family has an iphone, and then they make you pay 1.5 times the standard extra phone fee, on top of the already jacked phone price, if anyone else wants one as well? At those rates it's almost more beneficial for people in the same family to get individual plans. Yeah, as curious I am about the device, I'm almost glad I'm forced to wait on this one. Maybe by September of next year there will be some sensible plan pricing.

  8. technical details? on How Apple Kept the iPhone Secret · · Score: 2, Interesting

While we do know a good deal about the iphone, one thing I am still wondering about: what processor is it running on? Are they really running a full version of OS X? And if so, what's to prevent that thing from giving you second degree burns as it sits in your pocket?

I know that traditionally apple has been mum about the components in their portable devices. However, this isn't exactly another ipod, but not quite a portable computer either. I guess I just want a guarantee that it's going to be able to handle apps faster and more crisply than any other mobile on the market.
