    Well I have three different versions of the iPhone (1st, 3G, and 3GS) and frankly, there's not much difference between them. Maybe iPhone 4 is revolutionary in comparison. I'll find out in August when I qualify for a cheap upgrade.

    And even if it is a toy, are toys somehow universally accepted as being worse than tools? My toys cost much more than my tools, in general.

    Flash can run on iOS via the Adobe Flash packager. Granted, developers need to develop Flash stuff using the packager for it to work, but to think the iOS cannot physically handle the Flash format is untrue. Equally granted, no guaranty on good performance and/or battery life, as I haven't personally tested it yet.

    Why pay $30 for a dongle that does something that most every netbook ever made has built in?

    So you don't have to tote a dorky netbook around?

    How hard would it be to find the number of suicides in the US, the number of people in the US, the number of people in China and then (the only hard one) number of suicides by Foxconn employees?

    Turns out not hard at all. Foxconn = 400,000 employees, with 12 suicide attempts. US suicide rate is 11 per 100,000.

    Google is hard.

    I have had one Apple device since 2003 that has needed a new battery (white Intel Macbook). I still have: 2nd generation iPod, 3rd gen iPod, 3 more newer iPods of various makes/models, a Macbook from 2007, and they are all using their original battery.

    If you still have your iPad and haven't upgraded to something new by the time the battery dies, Apple sends you a replacement iPad (not a replacement battery, but an whole new iPad) for $99.

    Sure a battery probably isn't $99, but you get a new iPad with a new battery. Sounds like a deal to me.

    Everybody I know who wants Apple products goes out and buys them because they like them. Not ONLY because they are pretty (whatever), but because they work well and are easy to use.

    I don't need a longer battery. It would be nice, but not worth any substantial cost. My iPhone already runs all day (if I charge it at night and in my car while I drive around). Making it last longer would mean I could be lazy from time to time and not connect the white cable.

    An e-reader is a lot cheaper, until you realize you can't do 99% of the things a tablet can do.

    Agree that thinness has diminishing returns, but I don't really know many people who care if the battery is user-replaceable.

    Microsoft is (or at least was) a monopoly by definition. The definition being: losing your case against charges of monopolistic behavior makes you a monopolist.

    Content search does suck, but I like the image search much better than the new-ish Google image search.

    Interesting counter, however I actually have the data (my work specializes in crime pattern analysis and visualization software). Property crimes are directly (inversely) proportional with income levels, in Central Texas, at least. Maybe San Antonio is an outlier, since the whole town is a sh!thole, but Austin shows the same patterns.

    And yes, I think it is due to convenience...kind of like most accidents occur close to home (because we are usually driving close to home, or at least we are driving close to home more than we are not).

    Also, it is more likely a poor person isn't going to report property crime to the police since there is a high likelihood they don't trust authority, and/or they don't have a lot of stuff to be stolen.

    I think maybe because it's Texas, our data are different because our crazy citizens are packin' and our crazy laws let us shoot first and ask questions later.

    Eventually, but like I said, OSX hasn't had *significant* market share increase. They indeed have had significant market growth.

    It is easier to just replace a few-year-old generic PC with another $300 generic PC, however. Which I do. A lot. Pretty much every 18-24 months. Usually about 2.5 generic PC replacements to 1 Mac replacement (not trolling, just stating my experience). My 1999 G4 Tower is still a decent every day computer (and nothing has broken, amazingly) yet my wife's 2005 Compaq Presario was pretty useless as soon as 2007.

    Except that a brand new iMac can be had for $1299, not $2000, and a new iPhone for $199 ($49 if you go 3GS), and not $700.

    Even at your inflated prices, that hardly qualifies somebody as being "filthy rich".

    Those that use Macbook are usually either rich college students, marketing people, or those that work on creative field.

    Creative fields like tv shows and movies? Just because a Macbook is in the shot doesn't mean Apple paid for it to be in the shot. Chances are, they just took it from the intern and saved on materials/props budget.

    The smart criminals (if there are such things) will go to the rich neighborhoods where people feel so safe that they don't even bother to lock their doors...

    Yet they don't. The keep robbing the same lower class poor people they live amongst instead of going to the fancy neighborhoods.

    The same thing is at work here with malware authors. Why leave your crappy Windows neighborhood to go break into some fancy OSX house?

    Not only that but due to the complacency (Apple is immune to viruses) and ignorance (I don't want to know anything about computers which is why I bought an Apple) of the average Apple user base, it is an audience as extremely ripe for the picking ...

    Yet it still hasn't happened. How could this be? Perhaps the the "average user base" aren't as broad-brush ignorant as you claim.

    WHEN Apple gains enough market share to be interesting to write specific malware for, I expect to see infections on a massive scale. I must say it couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of people.

    That says loads more about you than it does Apple or Apple users. It also provides a good insight to the foundation of your incredibly juvenile logic.
