  1. It's was an amazing leap in TV quality! on 1970s Star Wars Christmas Special Reviewed · · Score: 1

    Ok, Maybe not.
    I saw this several years ago . . .
I'd been waiting to see it for years at the time. . .
It was, to say the very least. . .
The worst experience of my life.
And that includes the time I was forced to watch "learn to use Microsoft Bob in 3 hours."
    Honestly, it was...
(except for the wookie sex, that was cool!!!)

  2. Don't listen, it's a conspiracy! on Stevie Wonder to Implant Eye Chip? · · Score: 1

As the article says, Mr. Wonder is haveing an chip placed in his eye. What it doesn't say is that hundreds more will soon follow. Mr. Wonder will soon have the largest Beowulf cluster in human history. This will lead to a his quick mutiny of the wolrds governing bodies He''ll be able to monitor everyones CD players and tell what they His dictatorship will rise to stop all those who don't like his music!!!
This, however, is not what worries me.
After he conquers the world he'll appoint Kathy Lee Gifford as his vice dictator...
    Be afraid, be very afraid....

  3. Some good news, some bad. on Anti-WTO Riot, State of Emergency in Seattle · · Score: 1

Although I don't really agree with what many of these protesters are saying, I'm extremely happy to see these people out in the streets as one force standing up for what they believe.

First off, 95% of the real protesting was non-violent and even when it was violent it wasn't really violence aimed at humans or police. I watched coverage from 11:00am until 8:00pm today nonstop and I was quite impressed with how well the protest was carried out. People were firm in their beliefs without being extreme. They set out to stop the WTO meetings an they did.

Their were two main groups of "problems" however. The first came early in the day and broke lots of windows and spraypainted stuff. All in all, not that much damage. They were basicly anarchists standing up for what they believe in (Anarchy, duh :) in much the same way many people did before the American Revoloution (Re: Boston Tea Party)
The second group was the people who came along after most of the protesters had left These were the same type of people who riot after their team wins the World Series and were basicly their to have fun. Losers that bullied us in high school and are to be expected.
Anyway, please don't believe exactly what the media tells you is going on here. I expect the next few days to be somewhat the same as today; hopefully better as most of the idiots get tired of teargas.

  4. The RIAA would never be able to stop us... on Easy MP3 Distribution · · Score: 1

Alright, Napster seems like an excellent idea. It however has its flaws:
    1) Non-Anonymous author can be sued.
    2) Closed source - If he is shut down the project will be somewhat suspened
    3) Closed source privacy issues.
    4) Windows only.
Now their is a very easy way to solve this. We, the open source community, create are own version!
Now who's going to volounteer first? (I would except for my lack of programming experience :( )

  6. Scary thought... on Towards Molecular Computing · · Score: 1

Ok. We have hard drive size getting smaller and cheaper. Chip/etc size getting smaller. So just when am I gonna get my own 500mhz watch?

Oh yah. How long will it be until somebody writes the patch to cluster them?
I can see it now. All the geeks are wearing watches up and down both arms. All of them are running Seti@home. Team slashdot could kick some serious butt.

  7. Battery Life (a little OT) on Color Palms Announced · · Score: 1

I was wondering if anybody has a good explanation for why the palms use AAA batteries?. From the stats I've seen AA's get almost twice as many mWH (milla watt hours) and they're nearly as small. Seems like it's a big tradeoff.
