I am wrestling with a Toshiba A215 that came with Vista Home Premium. It reliably pukes five minutes after waking up from suspend, and requires a hard boot to recover. I tried to run Ubuntu, but it won't recognize the wireless, even after the Mad wifi drivers were installed. Remind me when I upgrade my laptop to make sure someone out there has had success installing linux on it.

I heard Mac OS X 10.6 is supposed to come out next year. Who, if they have not already, would install 10.5 now?
Not me. Why would I go out and buy a new OS when the one I already have (10.4) is working perfectly well, set up just how I like? I'll get 10.6 or 10.7 with my new Mac whenever I get to the stage of wanting to upgrade.
I won't be buying Windows either, but if they offer it with the hardware for a low enough price then I won't say no.
Who, if they have not already, would install Vista now? Not Dell. I just received a promotion in the mail for Dell laptops 'featuring' XP Professional Vista Downgrade 'absolutely free' plus 33% off original purchase price.
It won't make products cheaper, however. People may buy locally made produce in preference due to price, but over all they will have very little money with which to buy anything.
So I wouldn't say it's a good sign as such, as much as I'm against globalisation.
The interobserver variability in the study was high, and they defined an event very broadly
It was the same with mobile phones - in almost all circumstances they made absolutely no difference, since practically all devices are properly shielded. But we kept the "Switch off your fuckin phone" signs up because it was just plain annoying when patients (especially teenage females) are forever texting and chatting when you're trying to explain a procedure to them.
OTOH I think RFID tags and many other technological 'enhancements' are thrust upon the medical industry by IT reps and accepted by hospital committees without answering the fundamental questions: Does it save money, will it help patients, will it make our jobs easier?
Most of the time the devices don't do any of the three.
Medical litigation is based on finding the juiciest target. Unless you put in your sig "my medical practice nets $2mil per annum" then I doubt anyone is gonna go ambulance-chasing on here.
For all you basement people if you're like me and have a lack of D3 then take some meds. I my case its not because I don't go out (I do.. but not much) but due to some rare disease. Albinism?
It's not like they don't sell UVB 2% up to 10% daylight CPF screw in light bulbs at any decent pet store that carries reptiles. You cold blooded insensitive clod!
seeing as how taking oaths has worked so well for doctors, lawyers and Presidents. Doctors by and large don't take oaths anymore. But actually people do take pride in certain things, such as plaques on their walls. If an oath/pledge meant the person was a member of a respectable society and was given something to hang upon the wall as a reward, then there is at least a better chance they might take such a thing more seriously.
Apparently it affects memory as well. Well it was the only interesting thing on the Firehose at the time, or at least I didn't look very hard because I was compiling and.. BRB door.
Sounds pretty iffy to me:) Yeah it's a bit iffy. But I haven't read anywhere that says "if you raise atmospheric pressure to x (not due to substance y), then sublimation of y ceases" which is what is implied by the Wikipedia article. As for how it can be water, then it's not difficult to guess, since if they knew the temperature at which sublimation occurred and the atmospheric pressure, then they can work out which substance it was most likely to be. Given that they already know there is water on Mars, what they say is fair enough.
