The internet has made the import and export of goods instant. Other countries really dont care about IP laws. Knock offs are imported into the usa all the time and sometimes better than the original. Now its the digital age, the same has happened, but much, much faster. Other countries will also improve on the digital files.
So I guess you can make all the laws you want, they are not enforceable in a worldwide economy.
Personally, IP laws mean nothing to me, and a great deal of people from my generation feel the same. Tomorrow, we will be the leaders of this country
I had OpenOffice 2.1 installed and then tried to install 2.3. Didnt work. The installer complains it cant find the openoffice 2.1.msi or something. I'm still waiting a month later for a working OpenOffice 2.3 installer. Love to try it if I could install it.
I live in southern maine, I had fios installed, yes, they disconnected my copper wires from the house. Do I care? Not really, if they raise rates too high I will just use cable or cellular for phone/net
Kittery, Kittery Point, York, Eliot have Verizon FIOS.
I finally gave up on MythTV. Just never worked quite right.
I bought a ReplayTV 3000 (similar to tivo) used for $10, popped a 80gig i had lying around, downloaded the replay TV software to the new hard drive and booted it up. Works great and the wife loves it.
To download the TV shows it hooks into the phone line, in this case Vonage and dials up a local number to download the show info / tvguide. All the replay 1000, 2000, and 3000 devices all have a lifetime subscription.
When I got it running,, the messagges inbox had mail from 1999 the lasttime it was used so im not worried about replaytv shutting me off. If they did, i paid $10 for the unit. Big whoop.
MythFV was fun, but this old unit always works,, gets free lisitings and i dont have to mess with the software.
Ok, lets say Africa gets wired. And lets say they get tons of computers, YEAH. Ummm... got a small problem. We dont have electricity.
As soon as we put up electrical lines the locals steal them and scrap the copper. Uggg...
Lets say we get by that hurdle. Now how are they going to pay for it. The exchange rate isnt very good and cost of goods is very low. Monthly internet plan for $0.02 month might even be high for some.
How about:
1mb = 1 chicken
5mb = 1 goat

Its not that mainers want to fight the RIAA, they are just all too poor to pay.
Hoooray for insecure Operating Systems!
Nope, just opened it up in photoshop and tried twirl and fooled around with reversing it, not that simple. They did something else.

I once had a boss that said dont pay the rebates unless they write or call to complain. Nice ehh? I did what I was told, I needed the paycheck.
