You just mentioned the plots for about fifty zombie/apocalypse movies that I can think of off the top of my head.
Under the sea - spread contaminate to every ocean on earth Isolated area gets nuked - radiation cloud carries death + mutated virus all over the earth ISS - rain of virus containing capsules all over the earth
Moon.... fuck it, its got no atmosphere to contaminate, no see to poison.
Funnily enough, it could very much be not just strategic but also of value as a raw source of minerals.
It would give a military somewhere to put whatever the fuck they want: Dirty nukes? Toxic weapons?
Not to mention the ability to do research on virus strains as weapons without any fear of the subject 'getting loose'.
Now, throw in the fact that china are being very cagey of late about letting anyone have a share of their rare minerals and the moon becomes more use further, both for mining as well as a staging point for asteroid mining, with a much lower requirement on vehicles needing to leave its surface in regards to escape velocity.
Give me some science reports and a few half-whacko strategists and I am sure I could write up a few hundred pages of document as to why it must be seized immediately, if only to deny 'the enemy' the chance:)
Yeah, tons of speculation, but I have a few cups of good Earl Grey in me, there's not much else to do at this stage.
Sorry for the late reply, 4 days in hospital kind of left me out of touch.
In this day and age, where you can 'digitally sign' a document with your mouse by clicking a few buttons, how does the AUP of a site not become a contract for your usage of said site?
So things can be deleted off the internet without leaving a trace? You sir just made my day:)
Even just that someone appears to have credibility by being a member of a site or forum can have a huge detrimental effect when that member behaves inappropriately. And such things, once posted on the net, have a habit of sticking around, and no amount of white wash can remove them.

Summary conviction penalty in a case to which paragraph (c) applies: imprisonment for 12 months and a fine of $12 000.
Ok, what is really wrong here? All I can see happening is a fuck load of trolls going to jail.
It pretty much says "play by the rules the system you have chosen to use stipulates or get your arse to jail". It may be a little harsh, but you are not required to hit the accept button under the AUP, its not one of those magic microsoft buttons that causes the world to asplode if not clicked.
Note, that a lot of sites where anonymous posting is allowed, without password, then it doesn't matter if there's an AUP, you are safe to use it in any manner you chose, slashdot for instance, 4chan as another.
Actually there are a few other networks, medicare, centrelink, taxation, etc.
'Unauthorised' is about four pages of stuff (so far as centrelink and other public sector jobs go, not sure about police) you can't do with a system you have to access.
Of course other systems are protected by vairous laws, using someone elses wifi, hacking a facebook account (if the hacking is done in Australia) are among the things that are considered a federal offence. (just not under this specific one)
The law is very well used in the case the specified in the story, she should not have accessed the system in that way.
Its not workplace policy, its law that no one is allowed to access police (or any other public database) for purposes other than their job. Remember with the information in these files they could set up a massive identity theft, blackmail, etc.
Not just police officers are covered by this, ALL public servants are, our country takes a very dim view of people abusing their position to access personal information for fun or profit and it is a federal offence.
The original Alien was horror, true suspenseful horror. The reason it worked, despite a lack of modern special effects was that they didn't show too much, they let your imagination fill in the blanks as only a good horror story will.
The human imagination can still come up with things a hundred times more scary than special effects can achieve, if only because they are tailored to that persons one fears. This is doubly so these days when pretty much every kind of scary thing has been shown to us on the big screen with crazy high definition special effects, anything new either has to be so picture perfect its not funny (see district 9) or, as with alien, leave us jumping in our seats at some perceived scary part.
Another good example is the ear cutting scene (or lack thereof) in reservoir dogs.
In Australia is mandatory that houses have a earth leakage breaker on the main circuit at least (that is on the total connection).
All new houses have to have them on every circuit, and a lot of sparkies will offer to have the wall mounted ones installed too, though that can get really pricey.

I am thinking too much on this now, CASE CLOSED!

Because the value those shares should reach is your pay, if they don't reach that, you worked for less money.
Damn it, your ruining a great story summary by bringing logic into it.
STOP NOW!

No sir, that sentance flows fine, I might add a comma after 'effects' but otherwise its ok.
Now that I screwed up, 'if only because they are tailored to that one persons fears' would be correct.
I am so sorry my grasp of english offends, I will attempt to use lol-speak from now on instead.
Profanity is fine if the server says you can post it. You are not required to hit the 'submit' button, you are also not required to post on that site.
Its the equivelant to spray painting swear words on the side of someones house.

Not a contract, its a law in Australia that public servants are not allowed to access records of close acquaintances.
Yup, all public servants are covered by that same law, they are not allowed to access any official records on any close acquaintance.
Not just police officers are covered by this, ALL public servants are, our country takes a very dim view of people abusing their position to access personal information for fun or profit and it is a federal offence.
Wait, your not serious about a 100k number being low are you?
Also, as the other reply demonstrates, be very careful the wording of your little contract :)

Plus it makes the meat taste of 'Dispair'.
Oh come on, surely I am not the only person to have watched that tv show?
The exploit in question requires either DHCP or DNS to be subverted locally in order for the device to be attacked.
But the attack on the TV requires them to already have compromised your router/server, so they are already inside your NAT/FW.
As for setting up a DMZ... you mean people don't already have this?
In Australia is mandatory that houses have a earth leakage breaker on the main circuit at least (that is on the total connection).
All new houses have to have them on every circuit, and a lot of sparkies will offer to have the wall mounted ones installed too, though that can get really pricey.
So you don't have earth leakage detection circuits in houses as standard?
That's a dangerous way to live.
Check out the Dell Ultrasharp range of LCD screens.
Had a few of them now (after recommendations from a graphic designer) and they are simply a beautiful display.
Nah, 'LED Monitor' is the buzzword at the moment.
Its fun to point out to people that for the best colour quality an LED back light is not what they want.
No, there is no way someone would pay that much for such a small screen, even if it does have a huge contrast ratio. The tech just isn't mature yet.
It will be an LCD screen with an LED backlight.
Fuck it, I have mod points but unfortunately, as I have posted, I can't mod you up.
You just made my day with that one :)
