    And I agree, don't put the music on your phone, leave that on your file server at home and just stream it via the VPN ;)

    Grab a copy of Telexy Networks software for it, and you can now sync your phone via 802.11 or even via a VPN with your data plan.

    Cheap as all crap too :)

    Don't know about your sig int guys in the states, but all the Aussie ones I have met (about 15 or so) are all geeks. Their answer for political reasons is of course "we don't hire geeks" but when they pull guys and gals from sig int to work their, they are getting military trained geeks.

    So their plan is not to have to re-train geeks into being military personal, because they already have them.

    Of course each and every one of the bastards seem to be born RTS players, tough peeps to beat 1v1, and for the love of anything holy never challenge them to a game of Hears of Iron.

    Don't worry, just get one of the "32GB kingston microSD" from ebay, the screen printing is so blocky its great, shame about the failure rate though.

    what kind of mugger takes your books?

    Disgruntled literature students with no job prospects after 6 years of university (complete with masters, et al).

    And converting all their books to ebooks, when they can't even afford a phone is going to make the problem even worse! Roving gangs of philosophy majors, terrorising honest people, breaking into homes, stealing and and all books they can get their hands on for the next "fix".

    Amazon, you are an enabler, this is a terrible business model to work on.

    Yeah, I have been building a TON of PCs of late with the Athelon II 635 in them, so much horsepower for so little cash, and you can throw 8G of ram at it and it will be a missile of a rig :)

    Get a mega bucket of friend chicken, then start trying to put together chickens out of the bits, now, I don't know about in America, but here in Australia last time I tried this I consistently had a piece left over, when I stripped all the batter fried over it it looked suspiciously like half a rabbits hind quarter...

    As for GSM, I know the feeling, perfect reception out the front of my workplace but at my desk absolutely nothing, could be its a solid brick construction and we have insulating material (the tin foil stuff) inside the walls too.

    There is a point though, where on a pseudo-anonymous blog site that we know has no filtering of "naughty" things (witness the original post), where you just have to think "well fuck, he ain't saying it specifically to my face, and its not like I can change his opinion, what's the point?".

    Otherwise (and I am not saying he is in this case) you will end up being troll food for a long time.

    Now as someone who can suspend their political correctness to be able to appreciate a joke, yes it makes me chuckle. Also remember jokes of 1995 and earlier are beyond the statute of limitations on political correctness.

    And as someone who has spent upward of 10 years walking to work either reading a book or listening with headphones, I can say that yes, doing either is dangerous unless you use common sense and your other senses. Of course doing both at once is suicidal.
