  1. I dont want a voice ASSISTANT. I want Voice CONTROL. Voice Attack is a perfect example of voice control vs voice assistant. It only runs locally, and only executes commands i have set up for it, and nothing else. It only listens when i explicitly allow it to and i can disable the mic in-program at any time (or choose a different mic). That is the gold standard Cortana and the rest should be aiming for. As it is these assistants dont work for you, they work for their company. Its like having a secretary on premises at your business but they are actually an employee of Amazon, Google, MS etc. and will constantly steer your business to using their services instead of being loyal to you and recommending the best service overall.

It most certainly was not. Snowden confirmed that stuff for normies, but every network tech in the world knew what was possible. I have been preparing for this era for a very long time. I knew we would eventually be here when i first heard of CALEA in 1994.

  4. By centralized i mean by default the road section you are on will determine your car's available parameters, not the car's computer/driver. We will build future roads with beacons and sensors passively embedded in them. You can do traffic shaping on local loops without ever reporting a mother brain. The 'central' computer only need coordinate and pass off data from section to section, not run the entire thing from end to end. I agree there is always a danger of systemic corruption in using one system, but with proper compartmentalization ,and firewalling its not an issue. Part of the issue you are describing is a human design issue, not necessarily a technology problem.

Im not saying its how we should do things, but if i was building a autonomous system from scratch, i would start here. I think the hard way is the right way, but it bugs me when people say there arent other methods we could try, at least on limited scales..

  5. Or just ban human drivers and make the roads autonomous-only. Let the road computer (centralized coordinating computer that sets speeds, manages traffic flow, etc) control the cars, with limited inter-car comms. We are doing autonomous driving the hardest way possible. Get rid of the human driving factor, autonomous driving becomes orders of magnitude easier. HOV lanes should be converted to autonomous only, now.

  6. I think its fair to say Jobs invented things. Maybe not according to some pedantic definition, but he was no dummy and was well versed in many fields. He had the requisite knowledge and resources to invent.

Because this is a very simple thing that should require one radio and no other connection. Every iOS phone is physically capable of ad-hoc, they purposefully obfuscate it. It never occurred to me that Apple would be so petty and short sighted to make simple file sharing so purposefully shitty. It never once occurred to me they would consider such a simple tech to be something that can only be used a very certain way. I understood why early mobiles couldnt do simple file handling, but there is absolutely no excuse today.

Jesus Christ, you have to have Bluetooth on to initiate a fucking ad-hoc wifi file transfer? So both phones have to be iphones of a certain date, both have to be logged in to Apple, and then you can only transfer files through one app, and you dont ever actually get a true network. Tell me again how any professional actually uses this shit? Two VERY advanced computers cant even direct connect and share files without two separate radios and be connected to the mothership......WTF happened here?

Colony Collapse shouldnt be considered a failure. One of the biggest issues humans have with designing things is they think they can design one perfect thing, instead of taking nature's 'expendable' approach. You need to have more than one colony design, and some will fail. Nature progresses by ensuring the losses dont outpace the gains That is how we have to design off-world colonies. We absolutely have to get over the idea that no one is going to die in these efforts.

  20. Intel and AMD have had a cross-licensing agreement in place since the 1970s...Intel gives WAY more in that exchange than AMD ever does.
