I know this sounds crazy, but you can directly connect 2 computers (or consoles) on the internet without needing a centralized 3rd party to make the connect. How nice would it be to be able to connect with my cousin's Xbox directly over internet so we could still play Grid against each other. I LOVED Grid, but i wont be buying Grid 2 because they shut down the multiplayer servers way too soon and were too apathetic to allow direct connect.
You could extend your argument that using a firearm is unsportsmanlike as well, use a bow and arrow or marathon run the animals down to exhaustion and spear them. Hell, running them off a cliff is more honorable then using advanced chemicals, forged metal and precision optics. Do you care more for the experience or the result? It all depends on what your goals are. If that target absolutely, positively has to be destroyed, im going to trust the computer. As much as we all want to be Luke and 'use the force', its best to leave it up to the computer if the results really matter.
They just need to push Metro to the background like Apple OSX App store is done. If i dont invoke it, i NEVER see Launchpad on OSX. Make metro so i can ignore it on my machine if i so choose.
Unless he WRTOE the script for the Oscars, i dont see the relevance here. So hes not a an actor/presenter, hes still a pretty accomplished producer/writer. By the way, hes been asked to do it again next year.... Macfarlane may make his money off fart jokes, but hes incredibly smart. I can guarantee there will be no Family Guy crap in Cosmos.
You are missing the forest for the trees. Sagan's absolute top accomplishment was becoming Science Popularizer. That IN ITSELF is a huge scientific accomplishment and his ultimate legacy.
Tyson is our best 'science popularizer'. Thats what Sagan's true legacy is, the ability to speak to a good chunk of the masses and inspire them. Can you name someone else you think would be better at doing Cosmos?
I think of the Persistence of Memory all the time. It was this chapter that brought the past alive for me. After i read that chapter Jefferson, Newton, Socrates, Aristotle became living men to me. I was able to peer across time through the works of these men and see them as humans. Thats what is great about Cosmos, its much more then an essay on astrophysics.
Actually, with a full automated road management system, maintenance would be more streamlined. You could force all heavy vehicles to drive in a distributed weight pattern, potholes would be logged and reported from cars, all kinds of great 'wear leveling' sort of stuff.
The problem, for me, is flash drives. I have non-networked media players that are designed to play the first file on a flash drive after insertion so the drives need to be clean.( i do this for my technically disadvantaged family, it has to be stupid simple) I want to be able to remove all files off a flash drive in the UI without having to resort to formatting it every time or flushing Recycle Bin. I would LIKE the recycle bin to hold data for longer periods, but as it is now, i have to flush it often.
You cannot direct delete in OSX UI. Everything HAS to go to the trash bin. Not sure why i got Flamebait for pointing things i deal with every day. Cut and paste (files and folders) was added post Lion and its still not allowed in the context menu.
About a billion things. Apple gear is so hamstrung its silly. I know because i have a full Apple set (2011 mac mini, ipad 2, iphone 4s) . This was my first step into Apple gear and the limitations are ASTOUNDING. Even OSX is a bit of a joke, cant even CUT and paste files. Cant direct delete without going to the command line. The biggest problem Apple faces right now is the platform is just too locked down. They are going to have to loosen up or Android weirdo use-cases will consume their market.
Make it a linux machine with deep ties to the net, not an internet machine with crappy compromises for offline use. Make it an offline machine FIRST, then worry about adding your online hooks.
If its not on Steam or DRM free, it doesnt exist to my computer.
At the time it came out, Mass Effect 1 was groundbreaking for a console title.

Are you citing Mythbusters? REALLY?

Why not just use Win 7?
Correction, you would patent the PROCESS of how to make the material composition or internal cellular structure. Cant patent the actual material.
That was one of the best moments in the whole episode.

If Mythbusters is inspiring modern day engineers, well i feel bad for them. Mythbusters is scientifically crap TV.

Thats what they all say.....
If a grown man tells me he likes My Little Pony, i think less of him.

NO, the road will sort the cars. All the inter-car comms will coordinate with the road signaling system to avoid this sort of thing.
So it can it can do it, but at the cost of networking....GREAT SOLUTION.

Waste of resources. It does no good to turn a useful tool into a useless one.
Yes, but it SCALES. The first one will be expensive, the first hundred wont be.
