I think you are bending the reality to fit your perception. Mouse and joysticks have completely different schemes. Thumbsticks will always come back and return to 0 state, dead center. A mouse will never auto-center. Because of this you are always auto correcting and fighting the resistance in the stick vs the ability with a mouse to easily plant your aim in one spot. With joysticks, precision is much harder to acheive and maintain.
Also, those are both 'social' type games, which isnt PC's strength. Its called 'personal' for a reason.
Your comment implies the existence of a "social computer". What kind of "social computer" were you thinking about, and how can indie developers make games for it?
I was merely implying that PCs are generally designed with one user at time in mind, its a 'personal' experience.
Game consoles are the 'social' computer.
With increased presence of gamepad use on PC, you will see more games that support that style of gameplay control. Also, those are both 'social' type games, which isnt PC's strength. Its called 'personal' for a reason. I get what you are saying, i just think you used bad examples.
Almost any modern game that is cross platform with the consoles usually includes the ability to use a gamepad, mapped out exactly how it is on a console.
THe momentum is swinging the OTHER way. ALOT of PC games come with gamepad support now, especially the Xbox360 controller. I have the $20 MS wireless receiver that lets you use your Xbox wireless peripherals on PC. Its nice sometimes to lean back in the chair and chill. I played Ghostbusters on PC with it, Battlestations:Pacific too. I would never dream of using it in TF2 though, even though it fully supports it.
Your car is only as important as make it out to be, not everyone lives their life in fear of something happening to it. I have insurance, if someone breaks into my car, they will take care of it. I leave my car unlocked all the time and my Wifi open, have for years, never been a problem yet.
IF a maker of a product is telling you something that they probably would rather not be true, you can probably take it on faith that they are telling the truth. Occam's Razor applies here.
I know you are not going to believe me, but it wasnt until I installed WIn7 that I really felt my computer was the workstation it is (quad core, 3 GB ram etc etc). I felt the same as you, I installed Vista once and hated it. There are so many minor tweaks to Win7 that i really jsut enjoy. Little things like a simple.iso burner. Snap window management is really nice too. I know , all could be done on XP with additional programs.
Exactly. The market is too wide and the standard is open. It would be impossible for Apple to hold a conventional monopoly position. There are just too many other ways to listen to MP3. Besides that, they are nowhere NEAR the level of dickhead moves that MS pulled to build/maintain its certified monopoly. Further, MP3 players are not featured as a core function of business, so the stakes are an order of magnitude less.
A good general rule of thumb is, If you dont want to be tracked or monitored, dony carry a cell phone, because at some point or another they ALL have ways of tracking you.
Why would any normal western person subject themselves to such de-humanizing rules? You couldnt pay me to go to UAE. Its not that im a trouble-maker or rabble-rouser, but it seems that in those types of countries very small missteps can land you in a whole heap of trouble. Its fine if they want to run their sovereign nation like that, I jsut dont ever plan on subjecting myself to their rules.
Popular does not mean the same thing as 'the only game in town' There are MANY MANY MANY MP3 players out there, alot of them quite superior the the Ipod in many ways.
Ipod is most certainly NOT at the monopoly stage. There are literally HUNDREDS of competing products, and since Itunes is DRM free, your argument falls completely flat. There is no lock-in, and the marketplace is robust.
Now, I do agree its a dick move, but they are completely within their rights and shouting 'monopoly' is not going to change that. Until Ipod holds a 90% or larger share and they use that to illegally force people out of ANOTHER marketplace, you really dont know what you are talking about.
You hit it right on the head. His INTENT was to defraud ATT. He wanted to take a new product, use it for personal gain, and then return it with no repercussions. Honestly hes lucky he kept it, if he hadnt ATT/Apple would have a nice case against him, confession and all. Either way hes a prick.
I was watching his "thou shalt not add my speed to the speed of light" video last night, great stuff.
Your second statement reminds me of when the Shuttle Columbia blew up and my GF (wife now) DIDNT WAKE ME UP. When i got up shes like, 'O yeah the shuttle blew up" and I flipped out on her yelling "why the hell didnt you wake me????!?!?!?". I just could not comprehend how it didnt really affect her at all.... The instant she told me I flashed back to where I was when i heard about Challenger. Sorry if I got off-topic:)
It is ENTIRELY possible to believe in a creator and still accept the true wonder of the universe. Religion does not mean the same thing as faith. Organized religion as set forth by the religions 'clergy', for the most part is tailored to control the populace. People LIKE to be controlled, its comforting to some. Why have police when you can force your people to police themselves through guilt?

You are calling a game with one button combat COMPLEX?

Not everyone worries every second if their belonging are secured. The things you own ending up owning you.
I wasnt even born then and seeing that footage still makes me feel like a child.... What a crown jewel of human ingenuity.

Sounds like a challenge!
Hes deluded IMHO, even Microsoft has said there is stuff that simply cannot be removed. ( and im not referring to IE )

You call an article from 2004 'kinda legitimate proof'? You are gonna have to do better then that.

Soylent Green Cat Food is PEOPLE!!!!!!!
Movie industry has been doing this for decades. This is not a new technique at all and is smart business.

Story writer is an irresponsible asshole. "O, Ill just use it and then return it, who cares if it costs other people time and money." What a prick.
