It's not just you. It's most people that don't get Twitter. The reason that twitter has become a "phenomenon" is that it appeals to the people who "report" the "news". Bloggers, video bloggers, and old-school reporters basically like to hear themselves talk. A system that lets them stream-of-conscience out to lots of people and keep score while doing it? Jackpot! The rest of the 99% of us don't need this kind of reinforcement so we "don't get it".
>> If you don't like the research, refuse the treatments when you are sick in the hospital. Well, okay I refuse all treatments derived from embryonic stem cells. Oh wait, there aren't any. Meanwhile research goes on with adult stem cells which have zero controversy around them and don't kill innocent embryos. How you make the leap from don't research embryonic stem cells to all medical research is beyond me.
And by the way, what does a person like yourself who doesn't want to hear the pope's views doing commenting? Why not just change the channel. Or maybe you're just trying to protect the rest of us. Well, I appreciate your concern, but I think that the Pope's probably got a little more altruism to his views than you do. I don't know you, but it's just a guess.
The babies that are born through artificial insemination are great. The problem with it lies in all of the fertilized eggs that are discarded once a pregnancy occurs or that are lost during "handling". Catholics, myself included, believe that life begins at conception and so when you get rid of an embryo, anytime after fertilization, you are destroying a life.
The other reason that corn is so popular is that we "know" how to grow it and transport it and cultivate it and all the other things that go along with raising a crop. Sure we can learn, but who's going to invest in learning all of that when there isn't a guarantee for a market. Switchgrass involves a much different planting process. Transportation of biomass is also totally differnt. Corn gets us going and we can switch to something else once ethanol in general has a hold in the market.
US population: 301 million People scammed: 3.6 million Suckers/confused: 1.2%
and that's if we limit the pool to the US. It's not really surprising that they get this many people. Expect it to only go up as the online pool gets bigger.
I usually reach for one of the large kids books that seem to be lying around our house all of the time. Convenient, large and keeps the heat off the legs.
Thankfully I can skip all of that, but I would hat to be someone who has a regular DVD player that honours whatever non-skip protection is on those Disks.
Not to sound stupid, but how do you get a player that can do that? Or do you just play it on your PC?
ahh, but what if your cousin is a criminal and HIS DNA is found at the crime scene? They stick his DNA in the system and out comes your name as a close match. So they call you up and you have no alibi. AND you get all nervous when the very nice FBI agents start asking you about your whereabouts related to a murder. Then what do you do?!
yeah! That's what we want. Our educational system mired in paranoid legalistic butt covering. The kid was in juvey for 12 days. Yes it's horrible and was handled terribly, but why do we have to sue the school district back to the stone age? Typical American response.
Oh no. Only $20K for 12 days in Juvenile jail. Big deal. I'd take that deal pretty quick. I think we're blowing this out of proportion a bit. Yes it was a dumb mistake. Yes it was handled poorly. But why do we have to sue the school district back to the stone age for it? Typical American reaction.
They won't compete as long as the state and federal governments are there to bail them out. This is a perfect situation where vouchers from state and/or federal governments can help tip the tide. If a parent can pull send their tax dollars some where else competition will have to flourish. The main objection to vouchers, IMHO, is that since many of these private schools are currently religious schools the "liberals" in congress don't want to be seen as supporting anything remotely religous. It's not a matter of religion, it's a matter of capitolisim. The better schools will drive the worse ones out of business and the overall quality will improve through competition.
So can someone explain to me what is the REAL difference between a forum and a blog and why you would use one over another. We develop sites for people and it seems to me that a blog is just a forum that only one person can post to. Why do I need a blog instead of a forum. Someone please explain it to me.
Wasnt' there some attempt at this in the 90's. I seem to remember HP and some others coming out with much less mundane cases. I don't think it worked then and I doubt it will work now. There are certain people who will pay for the fancy, and a lot more who won't. Find your niche.
If I remember, the same crazy rumors were circulating when Clinton was in office. Of course they were circulating in more "Red State" circles then. I guess it just goes to show you that there are extremist wackos in all political parties.
Do you also excersie regularly? Walk, hike or bike more than average? Maybe there are things that you and many other vegetarians do that result in a more healthy lifestyle other than your not eating meat. It's a classic case of confusing relationship with causality.
I have two big gripes, one that I'm sure everyone has had to deal with, and one that is probably pretty specific to my setup. 1) It takes forever to load. My typical launch sequence is click the quick launch icon. Wait. Click it again. Wait some more. Click it a third time and finally the program launches. What the heck! 2) I keep all of my music on my desktop and frequently just Remote Desktop into it (we're talking windows here). While I'm RDed in, I plug in my ipod. Windows recognizes it just fine. I can browse the files on it and whatnot. iTunes doesn't notice the new ipod. There's no way to tell it to try looking for an ipod, because apparently it never misses them. So what do I have to do? leave RD, log in locally to the machine, close iTunes and relaunch (see item #1).
That's my problem with iTunes. There are others, but I don't run into them half as frequently as these two. I love the Smart Playlists and I love the podcast tools (although lately it's been trying to send me older podcast episodes that I've already deleted). Decent interface though the advanced search tools could use a little work. Is that better than not liking it becuase it doesn't run on my platform?:)
Well, I appreciate the suggestion, but why why why can't Sony just use that standards? Even if it's not a USB, just an SD or CF card would be great. Thanks anyway.
All I want is a small projector that doesn't require a laptop to run powerpoints. Just let me stick in a thumb drive and choose the one I want on-screen. Give me that in a decent form factor and I'll be happy enough.

Ahh, I've tried it. And it's only as easy as remembering to brush your teeth if brushing your teeth was a LOT more enjoyable!

Currently corn is selling for about $4.5/bu, so these really won't come into play. In fact it's been above $3 for the last several years.

Anyone care to verify this? I'm not about to download an exe that's "supposed" to remove a nasty virus. No offense apachetoolbox.

Someone should look into any copyright infringment involved with sending emails of text from litrature by a for profit company.

Let's see. Mom's money, mom's kid. Mom's say on what you can buy. End of story.
/. will chime in so this doesn't become a HS gripe session.

It took 620 pages to basically say "Let's just get together and do what the popular vote said."?

It's not a matter of making it faster. It's a mater of getting started up at all. The first two times I click on it nothing happens.
