So your saying if I electronically steal $1 from 100 people I deserve to spend the rest of my life in a federal prison like Hannibal Lecter? What if it was $100 per person? There is no way this is fair or just. They are making an example of him because the law is a falure.
I say, 3-5 years and pay back the money you stole.
The market should create jobs, not the government. Why?
(I'll illustrate your absurd point by being equally absurd, so hopefully you can see why.) Why not also force people to put missile defense systems on our cars? It will save people from terrorist missile attacks and if we force them to do it then they can charge anything they want for the systems and the workers could make really high wages just like Donald Trump! What a fantastic idea!
So if your speaking in her defense you must be saying she is either stupid and doesn't realize that government money isn't free, or she knows exactly what she is doing and is proposing this despite the fact.. either reason here makes her unqualified for her job.
So *IF* TWA Flight 800 really was shot down by a missle, (a maybe at best) than thats 1 in our entire history of flight.. but the current theory is.. "It *might* happen (or happen again) so we need to send unspeified billions to Sen. Barbara Baxter (D) supporters?"
I think Barbra Baxter is trying to play on peoples fears in a kick back for campaign contributions. Goes to show the culture of corruption is in both major parties.
Reading about China blinding spy satellites gave me an idea, I think its possible that we could CCTV blinding lasers for.. say.. your advrage public privacy advocate.
Maybe just the fact of developing something like this would help discourage the use and expence of a mass city wide CCTV system being installed at the expence of the taxpayer. If they know we can blind there cameras en-mass that cost $4,000 to $7,000 apiece in one quick shot.. maybe they wont waste the (our) money.
I feel it is very important to stop this law, (if that were possible even as our leaders for the most part do whatever they want..)
It doesn't matter if we bloggers can find a small loophole in the law (that is we are not usually paid to write we are paid to advertise.) The issue at has is this appears to be an attempt to stop political criticism like the swift boaters or moveon.org.. If there is ever a case like like the swift boat members again I would like both parties to be able to speak about it as freedom of speech, -especially- freedom of political speech is so very vital to a free nation.
It takes money to inform the majority of the people of political issues of concern and if we can't inform all of America about a problem what will be do?
This law is -no good-.. they can find better ways to stop fat cat lobbying I'm sure.
But hea, he will sign it...and it just goes to show there is no *real* collective differences between parties. GOP and Dems both voted for the war the patriot act etc.. any criticism you hear is purely political and not genuine.
Yes, but thats not ok. If you take donations (moveon.org) you apply.
We need not try to find little loop holes in their law that make what we do ok and look at the larger picture of "limiting speech". As you may know a "limited" right is no right at all. We all hate the idea of fat cat lobbyist writing laws for their own intrests, but this is limiting a way the people can do there own type of "so called lobbing" to compete.
Linux can have a fully functional system in a few megs. Linux and FreeBSD have working systems that boot from 1.44meg floppies. Thats smaller than Palm's Garnet. The decision is up to Apple and probably makes sense only to them. From a development standpoint in theory they might be able to move libraries and app backends between OSX and the iPhone.
OOOooh but I know what your getting at.. your saying "The iPhone would rule if it has Symbian on it." Yeah dude.. sure.
I believe when Apple worked KHTML/Konqueror into Safari they didn't submit code back to KDE until Safari had actually been released. I remember reading something about Apple sending a massive amount of code to KDE and it would be included into KDE 3.2. (..as I rembemer that is..)
The same may be true here. They only needed to submit patches when they "distributed it". For instance if you change a few lines in the Linux Kernel on your own system your not required to submit patches. Being BSD/APSL They may never need to.. and they never need to make download able configurations and packages for the iPhone, binaries, or a method to install them on the device.
FreeBSD also does have an ARM port. && It looks like Apple has been working on the iPhone for years so thats plenty of time for them to port Darwin to it.
People forget that the iPhone is not a product at the moment and nobody has one except Steve Jobs.. kinda hard to really take criticisms seriously on something nobody has used. Its like a review of a car handling by people who have never driven it.. kinda pointless.
I got one for ya, its called "Read the Bills Act". We can call it RTBA ehh? It makes politicians read and publish what they want to vote on and wait for us to have a chance to read it also.
DownsizeDC.org
no.. RTBA probably isn't "cool" enough for these slick cats.
Beyond that, the US is where it always has been.. either pointlessly holding up signs saying "make love not war" or bombing the piss out of people making more enemies in the process.
We need to be -not involved- as its not our problem.
The modern UN's military power is largely that of the US. If the UN voted to use military power the US would practically need to commit troops on some scale.
And you cant have real peace till somebody wins.. thats the problem with the UN, they never win.. they just sit in the middle for a time then leave and the original parties go back to war.
> And I would prefer to have essential functions under the control of a bueracracy
Ugg..no bureaucracy please..
> And I would prefer to have essential functions under the control of a bueracracy that has no effective leadership
Even worse..
> And I would prefer to have essential functions under the control of a bueracracy that has no effective leadership when it comes to devisive issues
Essential functions are not divisive issues? Or did you just mis-spell what you meant?
> And I would prefer to have essential functions under the control of a bueracracy that has no effective leadership when it comes to devisive issues then to a bueracracy that caves to special intrests every single time.
It would appear the UN is just as easy to cave in.. Lets get to the root problem here. Uhhh....??? Why again do you think we need a bureaucratic government body controlling the internet again? I'm not following you.

> > Evolution is a theory. Global warming is a theory. Gravity is a theory too! So is light. >
That doesn't make them all true.
I'm no expert but I think your giving bad examples. As with light, sure its "magic" to some people like gravity but we can say with some certainty that visible light is electromagnetic radiation and the frequency is 10 to the 14 through 16 with a wavelength between 400 to 700 nm.
Where as with gravity I don't believe we have any idea what actually makes gravity.
It's been so cold here we could use some global warming. I've lived in Seattle for 8 years and this is the coldest winter we have ever had since I've lived there bar none. It usually doesn't even snow..
I like how people say Global Warming is a fact, when they themselves have no better proof then what someone told them. I at least am smart enough to realize that I don't know if its real or not.. it might be but this issue can not be decided fairly as there is too much political pressure on it, too much money, and it has another problem, even if it is true.. the method of enforcement is also wrong. See here http://www.writingup.com/jaydee/why_global_warming _doesnt_matter
Libs? Libs are Democrats, progressives, socialists, and sometimes greens.. they are centrally not Libertarians.
What about Seattle, Washington?! It has k1e0x's School of technology and anarchy!!! (classes available, join today) Because I live here or went to school here, it MUST be..err never mind.
BIG difference from them doing so voluntarily and being forced to by the government.
Q: But mommy government.. we want ot use myspace.. Can we? A: NO! Studies show that 94% of all government schools that have students that have used MySpace once in there life are 97% are at risk from seeing someone the opposite sex with only 16% of their clothes on. MySpace is making our kids sexual deviants look at the site!!
heh.. but really.. if they want to do it fine but they shouldn't force schools to do so.
Well yea, as someone else posted above, Apples market share and demmands wasn't much of a concern for IBM. I *think* Apple makes a mojroity of its proffits on its Notebooks not its Desktops, if thats not true its still a huge portion compared to say Dell.
And yes, POWER is not PowerPC but since Apple had port to x86 anyhow.. I kinda still see it as a loss for Apple because IMHO IBM makes better chips than Intel. There is no way to know if IBM would have also developed a new G6 later on however. (maybe they will yet..)
Heh.. "better roadmap" is in the eye of the beholder I guess as Intel's "better roadmap" is cooler chips for laptops, IBM's is big iron computing horsepower (at the cost of off setting global warming), and AMD's is awesome SMP arch. They are each better at there own thing.
So your saying if I electronically steal $1 from 100 people I deserve to spend the rest of my life in a federal prison like Hannibal Lecter? What if it was $100 per person? There is no way this is fair or just. They are making an example of him because the law is a falure.

Arrgh!
Another victom of cut and paste. It's wrong in the OT also.
Eighth Amendment: "Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted."
101 years? Is this a joke? How is this not cruel and unusual? Some might argue it less cruel to shoot him.
This is disgusting.
1 out of the 2 users chime in.
So it is much better than your old Windows ME ehh?

I agree with you this is WAY off topic. +5 from the anti-bush types that proves they can not judge anything fairly when their emotions are involved.
