The update you mention caused some minor problems with my laptop - Start Menu would not function, arrow "expanding" menu icons being replaced by numbers or garbled graphics. System is slowly recovering, but it is frustrating.
Rule 11 sanctions may possibly be an effective deterrent. Rule 11 sanctions are levied against the attorneys, not the clients. I doubt that the RIAA's lawyers are going to condone their client's behavior for very long if the RIAA's courtroom tactics forces their own lawyers to pay money to the court.
My reading comprehension is just fine, thank you very much.
I still disagree with your statement that "most" of their work is treating symptoms. I can be a fan of his philanthropy and still dislike M$ and their business practices. Apparently others are incapable of that. Sad.
Your post displays your ignorance of Gates' philanthropy. Much of the Gates Foundation work has been funding vaccine research, which if successful will prevent occurrence of a number of diseases. To say they only treat societal symptoms is just wrong. Other funding goes to fund quality of life needs in the Third World.
Please don't let your hatred for Microsoft and Bill Gates color your view of the good things that he is doing for society through the Foundation.
assuming the technical reasons are even valid.
How about banning cell phones in the air as a safety issue? Rapidly deteriorating service in the air, smaller seats, little bits of terrible food if at all, lost luggage, delays, rude employees, rude travelers, overbooked flights and then someone wants the ability to chat on their phone for the entirety of the flight.
Can you say air rage?
I've used Office 2007 since the early betas. I've also used Office in the corporate environment (law firms) since 1995. The new interface is strange and radically different - especially for us power users who know the in's and out's of the old menu system. However, the new UI is actually more user intuitive...things I need just appear where and when I need them. It's been a tough conversion for me, but in the end I don't mind.
The one app I think really improved is Outlook. The new UI works great for Outlook, and they really improved the way the program handles IMAP email, which is what I use. Just my two cents.
Not true. The article merely says he's comfortable with his son using Vista without AV protection. He doesn't make the blanket statement that all users don't need AV for Vista.
Btw, I participated in Vista beta testing (actually reverted to XP). However, MS, at least to us, suggested the opposite, as they partnered with Trend Micro to provide AV for Vista and we got it for free. If MS thought Vista was so secure and AV wasn't needed, I doubt we would have been given free copies of TrendMicro AV.
LCD for me. I own a 30" LCD and a 42" plasma, both Philips. The LCD just rocks. It uses less power, runs cooler, and doesn't have glare. With my plasma, when the sun is out, you can't see the screen all that well, whereas with my LCD, it's not a problem. Having said that, however, I still like my plasma, I just think LCDs are better for my needs.
