Sure but think about how much more data the Internet generates today than it did 10 years ago. I'm sure we'll be able to cope in 10 years. Also, I know the LHC produces a ton of data. Does anyone know how it compares?
Sure but this in addition to the ability to rate comments should allow users to quickly point out the trolls much in the way/. does and then the mods can take a closer look.
I don't see the need to have people post under their real names in the Blizzard forums to lower the number of trolls. For example to post in the SC2 forums, you should need a SC2 key (this may already be in place) and since each user is associated to only one account, banning a user from the forums would require them to shell out another $60 for a new key. I think this would be a very good deterrent.
If Betelgeuse does go supernova, it will definitely be a naked eye object. For example, the Crab supernova was recorded by Chinese astronomers who noted a bright object in the sky during the day.
What's new here? It's long been known that Betelgeuse is a massive post main sequence star and will explode as a supernova in the (astronomical) near future.
I think it's more of a case that software that actually analyzes data is voodoo. It's helpful to be able to see exactly how someone got their results from the data.
Astronomy in general has a large amount of error simply because all the measurements come from observations rather than laboratory controlled experiments.
Instead...they succeeded in their stated goals, bringing happiness and prosperity to all?
Wait...
At least in the case of Stalinist Russia, happiness wasn't the goal. The incredibly rapid industrialization of Russia was and that was a tremendous success though at a horrible human cost. It's no secret that non-democratic states are much more efficient than democratic ones.
I agree that past totalitarian states (especially communist ones) had terrible environmental records. However, these non-totalitarian states did not have the goal of saving the environment. I think Lovelock's point is that he believes someone needs to be put in charge to direct responses to climate change that isn't responsible to corporate/private interests as current world governments are.

It's not Apple pushing the update...

You can choose other filesystems, such as ext3, if you setup the partitions manually.
