Please mod the parent down as it is far from informative. You certainly wont be able to go a year without updating your software as another poster wrote. I work for EchoStar. They have two types of software updates they spool. One is a partial update, the other is a forced update. The forced update is downloaded and installed when your receiver is powered off. All the automatic software update function does is power your receiver off at what ever time you tell it to. All of you who are thinking well I will just never turn it off will have all of your authorizations expire within 30 days (i.e. won't be authorized to watch channels). I'm sorry to say it but even my 625 will be dead if EchoStar decides not to pay TiVo. I urge everyone to call customer service and let them know what you think, but please understand with everyone calling you will be waiting on hold to talk to some poor person who has no control of the situation so don't yell at them or their supervisor.
I had a dream (yes I'm nerdy enough to have dreams about gadgets) the other week about a device I would snatch up the second it came out onto the market. I should probably patent this idea because I bet everyone else would want one too. But how cool would it be to have a cellphone, pda, and mp3 player in one with a good sized (40 gig?) harddrive in it to hold all my stuff. I'm aware they have made devices close to this, but not with the harddrive. And most of them are quite bulky in size too. I could watch movies while driving and talking to someone at the same time! YAY!
If he is successful, he will break a 42-year-old record set by an American colonel, Joe Kittinger, who jumped from 31,333 metres over Florida in August 1960.
Linus is killing Linux just as horribly as I'm killing Slashdot
Sep. 23, 2004 Today, after yesterday's release of a patch for the FreeBSD, Linus claimed that FreeBSD was now a great OS, afterwhich half of the Linux users switched over to BSD and claimed that "The other OS" was crap.
Technically if they really fought this hard they could win. People that use names like pansosonic and stuff like that are still legal even though they use a name trying to fool the customer into thinking that they are panasonic.
Although the recent ruling about domains not being property could some how affect this, I don't believe that this should be any different, even if they did register it in bad faith it is their own to use how they see fit. If a company wanted to fight this they would have to some how prove that by registering their trademark name they somehow register all others that are remotely similar.
Maybe it is just me (I highly doubt it), but I say appeal damnit!
I'm a beta tester for AOL and it's not all that bad. I don't mind it, but there really isn't a homepage at all persay. If you want to go to a URL you type it in the URL/Keyword Space provided.
I figured I would post a screen shot of what it is like... it can be found here.
I'm sorry guys but my resolution is 1280x1024 so the size is about 500k.
If they aren't in time for Christmas just ask Santa, because his little elves don't have problems with supply and demand. (There are what like 10 billion people? Give or take a few billion)
im never lucky, i have YET to win 400 million in all the lottery tickets i have bought... i have yet to get laid at the ripe old age of 43... i am doomed to get the gates of heaven and god says "im sorry you just lucked out, we closed the doors"
Hi, I have been a customer of SWBell for bit under a year now. I signed up for the high priced 5 dedicated IPs and a max of 6Mbit/sec down and 384kbit/s up. Ever since I have bought the service I have only been able to get EXACTLY 1mbit/sec down, and 128Kbit/sec up. I have noticed that these speeds are obviously capped not lag. At the moment they hit 1mb/s down it freezes, it doesnt burst any higher, I can add as many more downloads as I want but I just get slower speeds on all the rest.
When I was having my DSL installed the guy who installed it was very nice. He told me I had the best connection he had ever seen. He showed me that I am a mere 300 feet from my local office. He told me that I should easily be able to get my max speeds. I called SouthWester Bell and they said that they only promise the lowest speed of 1.54Mbit/s. I explained to her that I am not getting that speed and she said that she is sorry that there is nothing that I they could do because I was too far from my office (!!!).
I would have gone with cable but DSL is the only thing available where I live. This really pisses me off and I was wondering what I could do to get my service increased, or my money refunded. If there are any groups that are signing up people for a class action lawsuit or anything would you please post these URLs. I would love to join a lawsuit or something because I have been paying $129US a month for my service, and I am really glad to see that they have been capping the speeds and that this isn't my imagination. Please help me out here.
Alright as another user put it we are thinking with what we know. Which most of the time isn't such a bad thing, but when you are tryint to make a guess at something you do know, with information you have can sometimes lead to stupid results. The whole life on other planets gig, do I think there is life on other planets? Yes, I certainly do, but when I talk about life I'm not talking soupy worms that came from water and a heated environment. I belive that just because this is what scientists think we came from doesn't mean its the only life sustaining enviorment. I think that if we are going to think about life, why don't we think about organisims comming from a harshly cold enviorment without water. Hell, maybe water is deadly to the foreign life. Maybe they melt like that wicked witch in the wizard of oz. My point is that these super smart scientist aren't even sure this is how we were made, and they are making assumptions that this is the/only/ or most likely way that life can happen. I think everyone needs to rethink their thinking, I am always one to think they less loved side when it comes to things like this. I hope I have atleast used your time wisely. Need karma, I crave sustenance. Moderate Well =)
Alright just to point out that most people like to pick one side and say "HEY I'M RIGHT DAMNIT!" Well both sides are somewhat right and somewhat wrong. There are two sides to this, and ethical and a economic side.
First the ethical side, yes this person was violated for his religious view (maybe, sounds like a BS store I would make up). In all fairness the ISP should do one or both of the fallowing.. A) They should block the ip ranges attacking them. and B) Give the user a new IP if he has a static IP.
Now with that said, if the company did go the ethical way the would have to have the user not go back where he was and start the shit up again.
And now to the economic standpoint. Even though the user was violated for his views (once again/maybe/) he is still a user that pays twent bucks a month. This is a company, depending on the size (I'm going to say not very big because it sounds small) they have probably anywhere from a (few)hundred to a (few)thosand. Now I'm willing to bet the ISP had atleast a thousand and that is a thousand screaming coustomers using up their tech support and DIAPs or whatnot to get online. They start to lose money.
Now both sides could be the way to go for different people. But if your a business then you want to try to not lose as much money as possible. So a business will pick the economic option because they are a business, point blank. They don't want to tell a thousand customers "I'm sorry but you wont have service for the next few hours to the next few days because Johnny wanted to voice his oppinion about his religion to a bunch of heathen packet monkeys.
Well that sums it up for me, if I'm wrong (and I'm sure a lot of you think I am) please express so.
I want some excellent multi-camera angle pr0n. Plz Plz Plz, you know, if it wasn't for the multi-camera angles and the crystal clear audio to hear the girls scream, i wouldn't own a dvd player.
Good thing no one manufactures DVI to HDMI adapters. Oh wait..

This is simply not true. I have cox and have never had a problem seeding. This sounds like user error to me.

This is why they don't cache webpages. RTFF!

Another nice write up over at HP.comr eA/=http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/hewlett/inde x2.htm

What can this be used for? I mean yeah it's real great that they are able to do this, but does it have any real applicability?
I know it says about 31 miles but 165,000 feet is actually 31 and a quarter miles.
Sorry to be anal but that's what I am.
