    Can I remind you of the days MS used the government of the States to extinguish B-TRON in Japan? Anyway, at this point, I don't think MS and Coke need the data. They probably rely on focus groups and polling nowadays.

    al qaeda is an ethnocentric fundamentalist initiative, created by the middle east. you cannot possible hold the west responsible for chinese ultranationalism or russian ultranationalism. so why you would hold it responsible for arabic ethnocetrism?

    Al Quaeda doesn't exist. But don't take my word for it. Just watch the linked documentary.

    On a slightly unrelated note, if you carefully observe those cultural trends that you call 'ultranationalism' in context, you would notice that those emerged from a state of complete paralysis under a foreign and/or domestic tyrant.

    Those cases where people just stop running from it. Like stopping the 'war on terror' through political means. (Not that it happened.)

    Fiscal havens played a very important part in creating the current economical crisis. Yet, the chicken shit governments of G8 and the world financial institutions haven't done shit to end this, besides a few cosmetic tricks.

    All these problems would disappear if we simply enforced the Constitution as written. No warrant; no search of people or their effects (papers/bank accounts).

    And the possibility that most bank employees and managers would be arrested. Which would be mighty fine, too.

    ... consoles that have a ROM chip with the game on it, that can only be played on that particular instance. The console would be hooked to the TV, and that's it. You have to buy the whole thing if you want to play. Not that consumers would care or anything. They don't now, and why would they?

    I'm possibly not american, but are you perhaps talking about the quote "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." (Thomas Jefferson)?

    Freedom that requires bloodshed is not particularly efficient. Although, I guess, it's in most cases the only option.

    ...are taking this thing seriously, too. I can't imagine why anyone would steal accounts if people wouldn't buy them. But I still can't imagine why people would buy them either.

    I used to play games to have fun, and achievement was part of the fun. If I just stole other people's achievements, that wouldn't be fun. Or maybe it's all just about the brag factor?

    I'd buy one with Linux too. Then promptly put a pirate copy of Windows on it. It's the cheaper way to get the same thing.

    Didn't know they sold laptops with pirated Windows on them (especially if they cost more than Linux laptops).

    Yeah, Flash is a big fat hog. Just yesterday, I kept a page open which had some 5 pieces of Flash ads on it. CPU was constantly at 100%. I went out to take a break, and when I came back, the laptop just died the moment I touched the mouse. That's just one page, and the whole thing overheated.

    Yah, but it's easier to run a virus scanner, spyware remover and adware remover (or even two of each) than it is to get Ubuntu running on a system that isn't fully supported ;)...

    It's not quite the same thing, but a friend of mine is using a fully supported laptop. So, a logical question would be: Does she cope with anti-whatever-ware install, or would she rather install Linux? The answer is neither. She gets me to do either, so I get to choose.

    And since she doesn't really do any maintenance to speak of, Windows XP on her laptop, for me it's much less pain to simply install Ubuntu, which I will do soon.

    That being said, it doesn't fill up with crap because crap writers don't target Linux (yet).

    Nonsense, adobe reader, adobe flash and realplayer all have linux versions ;)

    Not to mention the slowness Flash player causes in Firefox. At least on my lowly CeleronM-driven laptop.
