    So you sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop before you sudo do-release-upgrade. Boy that's hard.

    So why not use the alternate installer and only install what you want? start with a minimal install and build from there. You aren't locked into the "desktop cd install" ffs.

    Although it IS overkill for just a remote control launcher.. but I DO use it for live tv viewing and recording some OTA HD series.

    Then no, Firefox's advantage over Netscape was supposed to be existing since Netscape abandoned it and went out of business.

    I don't really know what you mean. Firefox == Mozilla (internal codename for Nescape == Mosaic Killer)codebase picked up after Netscape folded. So Firefox == Netscape + n == Browser proded by the Mozilla Foundation.

    Why not just have both? Aren't more options better? I have an entry in my MythTV main menu that launches boxee. See, we can all play nice. I can have the stuff I care about on local disk. I can stream what's available as its convenient. Either way it means I haven't paid a cable/satellite/content company a dime in over two years :).

    I had the same thought, but surprisingly no. I think its mainly because MySpace is for shitty local bands to publicize music. That would be wholly incompatible with a non-Web2.0 friendly ToS.

    Yes, but MythTV NEVER crashes. It is ROCK solid (on my hardware anyhow). I love boxee for all the reasons you mentioned, but with one click of the remote, I can relaunch it from my MythTV main menu (which is the main use myth gets now :) )

    Why did you convert away? Add a menu entry to mythtv that launches boxee (literally 3 lines in an xml file) and that way when boxee crashes (which it does, its alpha) you're back to mythtv, and you can still watch live tv. That's my current setup (in the midst of a painful 8.04 -> 8.10 -> 9.04 upgrade since boxee abandoned Ubuntu LTS [grr..]).

    Stop with the old trolls. No one using linux has had to touch their Xorg.conf for at least the last two years. Try a livecd and find out for yourself

    Somewhat true, they store the C and release O2 and H20. That's photosynthesis. This doesn't release the 02 which is probably the biggest difference. How quickly are we going to change the 02 concentration in our atmosphere by fucking with this?

    If it can't then you haven't properly abstracted data from algorithm and you've failed. You may have a functioning application, but its neither maintainable nor well designed if that is the case.

    Reading comprehension FAIL: exactly the opposite is true. Our star will NOT supernova and form a black hole because our sun is EXACTLY one solar mass (being the star that scale is based on) which is less than eight solar masses.
