  1. Re:Nicely done on Silent Circle Follows Lavabit By Closing Encrypted E-mail Service · · Score: 1

Nixon spied on a half dozen people and resigned in disgrace... Obama spies on everyone.

It wasn't really Nixon, it was J. Edgar Hoover and Senator McCarthy that really spied on the people of America. And that is what the real worry should be for the American public. This argument about "if you done nothing wrong you should have nothing to hide..."is an empty argument in my opinion. What will future governments do with this information. Could you imagine what it would be like if either of these people were alive today and all the access to information they would have. What it would mean for the people of the US. It would be a damn nightmare is what it would be... disclaimer I'm Canadian and our government is becoming no better than the Americans, heck it's seems our two governments are sharing the same bed when it comes to spying on its citizens.

  2. This guy is amazing on Halo Elite Cosplay Puts Others To Shame · · Score: 2, Informative

I met Pete Mander 2 years ago when I went with my brother to pick up his Pinhead costume he ordered from Pete for Halloween. I was absolutely amazed at the work he does, Pete makes/sells costumes to anyone that is interested. It doesn't matter if you are in the movie industry or just interested in having a kick ass costume for Halloween (if you have the money that is). Pete also sells costumes from the movies Aliens, Predator, Master chief (Halo) costumes. Here http://petemanderfx.com/ is his old website where you can see some of his previous works. This guy is trying to make a living and to say Pete has way too much free time on his hands and wastes his money really does him a disservice. In the last week this video has made it to the front page of digg and now slashdot I hope from all this publicity some FX house from Hollywood or somewhere else sees this and contracts him for some work. Great Job Pete!!!

  3. Black Box.... on Trust an Insurance Company's "Drive-Cam?" · · Score: 2, Insightful

I think that if insurance companies go this route, to make it more acceptable to the public at large, it should be more along the lines of a Black box for that of a Jet. with all the sensors cheaply available it could be easily done. The video would be from a wide angle camera front and rear, it would capture either a 5min or 10min of video that loops, it would show the speed and direction I was heading. And all data would be stored in the trunk in a crash proof box. It helps out the insurance agency and police to determine the cause of the crash/incident and protects my privacy. Only time the information would be accessed is in the event of the crash/incident/break-in. And the only way to access the information would be a data port that is only accessible after breaking a tamper proof seal. Simple and acceptable to me. As for the Coaching from a insurance company, Piss Off!!! Next thing you'll know they'll want camera's in your kitchen to make sure your eating healthy to keep your health insurance premiums low. Before you know it your being coached by Jenny Craig on better eating habits at the behest of your insurance company...that's just FUBAR .

I find that playing video games after smoking some of the finest herb allows me to get into a very relaxed state of mind. This I think is the ultimate factor in defeating many of my opponents. It just puts me "In The Zone."

Mary Jane can have the effect of putting you "In the Zone". It effects a small percentage of pot smokers, but the effects are the same as a athlete that is "In The Zone". There was a small study on the this a while back. Think it was during the Winter Olymics in Nagano, when the snowboarder Ross Rebagliati was found to have traces of it in his blood. This study came out shortly after on some news network.

  5. My two cents... on Bell Canada Ordered To Justify Traffic-Shaping Practices · · Score: 3, Interesting

My biggest problem with traffic shaping is this. Imagine if they tried to do this with our voice lines based on the content of your conversation. Customer1 is talking about a new song on the radio with customer2 and bell's traffic shaping is listening in. Customer2: Have you heard that new song on the radio by Metallica? Customer2: No I don't think so... Customer1: (starts singing the first verse to the new song.) Bells traffic shaping detects metallica's lyrics being sung in the conversation and immediately flags conversation and intervenes because of the content. Customer2: Oh yeah I've heard that one!!(starts to sing the 2nd verse to the song) Bell's traffic shaping software now is starting to throttle the conversation and diverts part of the bandwidth(analog or digital information)to other customers because of the content. Customer1: Hey I can hardly hear you! Your cutting in and out! customer2 barely hears customer1 and starts singing louder. Bells software adjusts Customer2: Say "static" prayers little one Dont "static" get, my son To include "static"one Customer1: Hey your cutting in and out! Customer2: Huh? (yells out)Can you hear me now!!! My whole point is this, be it either by analog or digital, bell has no right to listen in to the conversations I may be having. If I'm having a verbal conversation with someone and they want to listen into conversation they need a warrant, otherwise they are invading my privacy. Same goes for information that I send and receive over the internet.

"We like our arctic, it is ours. We'd like the tax revenue from any oil that is pumped out of there. we'd like the revenue from a major shipping lane, so declaring it international waters is a problem for us. We can't afford to build nuclear submarines..."

At one time in the late 80's we were going to buy 4 nuclear submarines from France. The deal never went through. At the time the US government was heavily lobbying the Federal Mp's that had any kind of pull to block the deal. From what I remember the reason given by us officials was because of our lack of experience with Nuclear reactors in ships of war. I may be wrong about that. We had one of the safest Nuclear reactors ever built. CANDU. The real reason of course had to do with access to the arctic waters.

  9. Heir to the Empire on Harrison Ford Turned Down Han Solo Role · · Score: 1

I wouldn't mind seeing this trilogy being done. Timothy Zahns Heir to the Empire trilogy is good and timeline wise they could swing it with most of the original cast and have a new villian in Admiral Thrawn. As long as Lucas wasn't involved in directing or writing for the movie. I've think he's lost the touch when it comes to story telling and directing. In the begining of his career he was energetic, had youthfull vision and he had a gift for telling a good story on the silver screen. Now he looks through a lens of a special effects artist/CEO . I think if he really wants to do another, he needs to start all over from the begining by takin a break from I.L.M. and dig out the old 35 mm camera and do his indie films. Really though I would like to see him hand off the films/stories to someone else. There are a few directors/writers I would like to see take a crack at something like this. Michael Rymer,J. Michael Straczynski, Kevin Smith to name a few. Remember Lucas did say 9 movies long long time ago.
