These guys fought in court and won. It was kind of creepy to see what kind of "insider info" these guys were posting, as I had been visiting them for a *long* time. It seems like they had moles everywhere in the company. Nevertheless, they are back up.

The inventor of K'Nex went to Drexel University so he donated *assloads* of K'nex to the school. I was working on K'nex design project freshman year. We made some pretty kick-ass rubber band powered guns that shot the rods. They *really* can hurt.

There is a food distribution problem from corruption. It is in a despots best interest to keep their people suffering. That makes the people have concerns other than revolution. How many juntas have you seen where the common person revolted? Not lately. It's the military or other wealthy people. Question for you: Do you feed the "starving multitudes?" How often in one week do you volunteer? or how much money do you give? Just curious.

Absolutely private industry is the way to go. Moderate this guy up for the railroads comment. Although I disagree on the "globalist" view that the UN should run a space agency. Their original charter was to serve it's member nations. Now it has begun to break out of that limited role. Member nations now serve it. There is obviously a prize for being one of the early ones on the moon. With a base on the moon, construction and launching of other vehicles is much easier. (Hell, it could be done indoors). Maybe building a small earth orbiting station that is just a transfer point between the earth and moon would make things much easier than going straight there. There arent many flights from NY->Tokyo, but there are many flights between NY->LA, and LA->Tokyo.

I can't believe i haven't read this anywhere in the comments. This sounds just like the matrix. Imagine that you were "booted" up into that computer at birth. Why do anything? The system would "feed" you.."clothe" you...
Which pill would you take?

Sounds alot like the IBM-Microsoft conversation, "There's no money in the OS, it's in the hardware". I'm not sure where you got your figure for "thousands of dollars for W2K".... that would be an idiotic price for their software. They wouldnt sell a single copy.

"the company put its future almost entirely in the hands of the PlayStation2" wtf? Isnt Sony a powerhouse in other consumer electronics areas? I would think so.
As long as lawyers are in control of the Judiciary, they will always be open to "help" their buddies. It's also looks to me like a conflict of interest when the Clintons and most of Congress are lawyers! Opportunistic lawyers are feeding off of the American's desire for more money with less work. There haven't been revolutionary changes in the legal system here in 200 years. All that changed are more laws which can used by lawyers to fill their pockets. How do we change the legal system? Not easily. But i'd like to see a)informed juries. (a jury is 12 people who are too dumb to get off jury duty). b)Punative damage settlements go to level government in which the case is tried. c)Lawyers only get a fixed fee. (something no less than $100,000) d) Plaintiff gets realistic damages. ($12 million for spill coffee because you are a f*cking idiot is not realistic, a kick in the ass would be) e) Loser pays for all legal costs incurred, not the taxpayer.)
When Human Genomes become "open source" won't it be possible to exploit certain open doors? Imagine script kiddies as maniacal despots working on Biologicals.
Of course, the other side of the coin is that you can fix the bugs, but how possible is that for an adult? Billions of chromosomes.... I'm not sure that's possible.
...if this becomes the next "cell-phone?" How many a-holes will be checking their email from in the cars, or sitting in restaurants with these things hooked up. How irritating would hearing "You've got mail?" be in a public place?

The US Consitution grants no rights, it only limits the power of the federal goverment. When analyzing meanings of the Constitution, the Declaration of Independance should also be read.
Though we do have a right to own vehicles, even operate them, we do not have that right on anyone elses property other than our own. Since the goverment "owns" and maintains the roads in an area, they do have the right to ask for a certain degree of competence when using it with other people.
Since groups like W3C do not own the internet, their suggestions of regulation are merely that. Suggestions. Now, if on the other hand you ISP asked you to demonstrate proficiency in using their service, I believe they are well within their limits. But, remember, you are not bound to using that ISP.
There are already enough laws able to hold people accountable for all the transgressions they commit against society.
In the 80s, Congress passed laws prohibiting people from spamming fax machines with advertising (using war dialers). Besides, there are some laws (or in the works) against spamming via 'net now.
Hehe. Unfortunately, as in politics, the "talking heads" are just that. Spouting off their "vision of the future" and tossing a a liberal amount of their own agenda. Of those "futurists" of the 60s and 70s, who predicted that pr0n would be one of the largest businesses in the "information wants to be free" times to come? I can say this with certainty about the future. If a new technology comes out, and porno can be used on it, with it, etc. rest assured it will be. Look at VHS/Beta and porn. DVDs and porn. God forbid somebody invents cybersuits. Lets hope you can dry clean them. They'll be messier than hell.
Man, that cyberette sounds alot like pot. As you drag on it, your mood will be altered. Unfortunately the article didnt tell you how such a thing would even work.
Although I do understand that cerain EM fields and waves can affect mood, I can't imagine that holding that in your mouth or constantly beaming energy into your head wont screw you up.
They want to snoop... and if they want to but can't, the want to change the game. All coding a key into the thing is going to do is allow A) them to snoop on everyone, b) invite some (un)srupulous person to find it, then send it out.
This seems to be one of those cases where self-regulation would be the better answer. The company I'm consulting for has the following policy. "It's cheaper for us to get you comfortable equipment than it is to pay for your health problems, all you have to do is ask." The regular chairs here are nice, but the guy across the hall had a car accident, requested another chair. The damned thing is tooo complicated for anyone to use. It's a web-type thing with 90 adjustments and controls. When it's properly configured, it's great. When it's not....
This is yet another instance where slime-ball lawyers smell a buck and will get on it.
If your company wont get you a chair because you need one, then maybe you should look for another company.
Sooner than you think. I see it in less than 20 years. If you throw a frog into boiling water, he'll jump out. If you slowly turn up the water on him, he'll burn before he realizes. The Kyoto environmental accords are a big step. If you remember, they assign "credits" to countries based on their annual pollution output. Industrialized nations, the United States in particular is heavily penalized, while the former Communist and developing 3rd world are exempt from this policy. Not taxation you say? Ultimately taxation becomes a redistribution of wealth. For each company that leaves the United States for another, that's fewer jobs, less collected income taxes for the US, less sales tax collected etc.
I remember all of the liberals in America claiming Trickledown economics was a failure. They claim the rich got richer, and the poor didnt get as rich (or something like that;) ) True Michael Dell pees dollar bills, but you live in a home/apartment, have a job, and can read. Can you say the same about the non-rich in the 3rd world?
