"Caliber" is the diameter of the bullet. Has nothing to do with length/energy/whatever..45 >.44, which one you'd prefer being shot with doesn't really affect the diameter of the bullet, does it?;)
On a slightly related note... I recently read "The man who loved only numbers" by Paul Hoffman. A pretty interesting biography of Paul Erdös (who didn't marry and continued doing mathematics and publishing papers until his death). I'd recommend reading it. To some people, at least.;)

Laser light travels in a precise, straight line; it's not like a flashlight that beams an ambient cone of light..
Actually, lasers aren't all that straight. They get pretty "flashlightish" at long range.
I didn't like my R320 very much at all. My new Nokia is a lot nicer. ;)
