  1. Re:And what about BIOS upgrades? on How Dell Is Making Ubuntu Linux More Attractive · · Score: 3, Informative

Dell are releasing BIOS upgrades for their laptops to cope with the Nvidia weak component problem (basically the fan will spin up sooner). This includes the laptop models that come with Linux preinstalled. Except there's no BIOS updater that will run under Linux; they're all Windows based (although if you have a DOS floppy knocking around you can use that)

Umm...Dell has a Linux BIOS updater in its SMBIOS library. The only downside is that you might have to install wine for the image extraction (though it says it is still doable without).

    A few things...

In the end even the poorest country with the most infertile soil will have enough food for everyone if its a well run democracy 1. Why does a government have to be a democracy to provide food to its people? 2. That's not necessarily true. The only reason so many people exist today is because of the Haber process of producing ammonia(N2 + 3H2 -> 2NH3), which is expensive to execute on a large scale. Also, not everyone who is poor farms. Those who run businesses that are doing badly aren't going to have enough money to buy the food they and their family need to live.
