IDE may be cheaper, but if I'm planning a system with fiture upgradeability in mind, I'm certainly not going to limit myself to *4* disk drives. My system is SCSI because I was tired of assigning two IRQs to run four devices -- I'm short of IRQs as is. I'm not a technical buff, but my UW scsi controller can run what -- 16 uw peripherals on one chain/irq? If I want to mix and match, I'm "limited" to 7 -- not to mention that I can mix and match internal and external peripherals. If I run out of device space, another SCSI card will give me twice the expansion room, sacrificing only one more IRQ. Thats already 14 (or 32, depending on how you mix) peripherals on 2 IRQs as opposed to 4.
Besides which, ATAPI always seemed more CPU intensive for operations. I've not felt that after going pure SCSI, but whatever -- YMMV.
Sawmill can do everything E can, themewise. Do I smell conspir*E*cy? er.. you know.. spell it right and its conspiracy, but i had to toss in the E for.. oh, nevermind..
What have the folks at SGI been doing with their spare time? Practicing lobotomies? This logo is perhaps the most incredibly hideous logo I've seen since that company from Redmond became a household name. Then again, to speak very bluntly, even that logo has a bit of style.

I read about this drive in PSM a few months back, and tried to email the company, with all the flair of the Advocacy-HOWTO, asking about possible linux support and/or protocol release, but their mailer returned my mail, stating that there was no more room in the spool directory.. go figure, maybe its already been asked (by about 40,000 other linux users, which is why I hope the spool was full:>)

Along the lines, Transport Tycoon was probably my favourite game of all time. It boots under DOSEMU, but alas, crashes dosemu randomly anywhere from immediately, to a minute into the game.. sigh.
