To be perfectly honest, that doesn't sway me. This is on the app store, kids would have to actively seek it out. If people are harassing kids, that's one thing, but publishing an app that said kids would have to go out of their way to obtain does not constitute harassment. It should not be censored or restricted in any way, there's simply no cause to do so.
I can't agree there. Sean Connery is an alright Bond, but he didn't bring the magical blend of suave, professionalism, and deadly assassin to the role that Brosnan did. I felt he was pretty unremarkable as Bond, to be honest (although a great actor in general).
I agree that the trappings of sci-fi are just trappings, and that it's really about examining ourselves through the lens of the unfamiliar. That said, the trappings can be off-putting, and in the case of Firefly, I couldn't get past the Western motif. It was just too cheesy, and completely wrecked the show for me.
Timothy Dalton was an excellent Bond. I prefer Pierce Brosnan, but nonetheless, Dalton played the part quite well. Moore was OK if the movie was good (not many of the Moore movies were, sadly), but I thought he was pretty bad otherwise.
Good choice, unless it's someone who can't deal with scary very well (me). I love Doctor Who, but the Weeping Angels freak me the fuck out. If that had been my first experience I might have run and never looked back.
Still... good Doctor, excellent writing, creative premise. It's a solid first episode with the aforementioned caveat.
I agree with this. I love the new material, but no matter how hard I try, can't go back to the old. It's... I don't know if it's dated, or cheesy, or what, but it's something, and I don't like it.
Sure, I won't deny that times are better for Apple. But it's kind of ridiculous to say that Windows is no longer a competitor against Apple, since they are not only actively fighting, but Microsoft is still ahead.
I think some did. The episode with Lrrr, for example, was brilliant and as good as any except the very cream of the original crop. Same for the robosexual marriage episode. A bunch of others were only OK overall, but had some amazing parts. The Scruffy and Wash Bucket scene had me in tears from laughing so hard. And honestly, that's in keeping with the original series run too. Not every episode was a gem, some were merely "Ehhhhhhh, it was ok," especially towards the beginning of the show. I also find that my appreciation for some of the episodes has gone up on repeat watching, so maybe I'll like them all more in time.
I disagree. One of the movies (Beast With a Billion Backs) was lame, while the rest were good. The new season was hit and miss, but it seemed like towards the end the quality was more regular. I took that to be simply them getting back in the groove, because when they were on, it was every bit as good as before.
The day Disneyworld becomes a place which Disney markets as an open forum for everyone to come speak their mind on a subject, your comparison will be valid. Your completely asinine comparison is especially ironic, given that you're so damn rude about it.
Doesn't matter. When people act on their views in an unacceptable fashion, yeah, they need to be punished. But up until that point, they have the freedom to have and to express those beliefs.
No. If someone expresses their views in a calm, rational manner, no matter how wrong we think those views are, it is our responsibility to respond in kind. You don't have to agree, but if you do any less than repay civility with civility, you are the one who is in the wrong.
My favorite bit with Théoden is in ROTK, when he bitches how Rohan isn't going to ride to Gondor's aid, when Gondor didn't come to theirs. Yeah, moron... that's because you refused to ask them for help, even when people said you should do so. That was quite possibly the most idiotic attitude I've ever seen a person (real or fictional) take.
Also, don't forget how Faramir (the man who said of the Ring, "Even if I found it on the highway I would not take it," and lived up to that ideal) decided it was a good idea to kidnap Frodo and Samwise to try to steal the Ring from them. Yay, let's gut the most significant part of the character's personality! And the reasoning given was bogus. "Well, we've been trying to set the Ring up as this horrible evil thing, which doesn't work if Faramir can resist it." Way to miss the point! In the book, the Ring is still one hell of a force of evil and corruption, but the entire point is that it can be resisted. It's a choice to take it, not something that you were condemned to the moment you saw it. *sigh*
Success has nothing to do with what is right or acceptable. The bully is very successful. He also is acting in an unacceptable fashion. Don't confuse the two.

Back off, man. I'm a scientist.

Cue Tom Baker vs David Tennant war... NOW!
Bah, who would revoke a geek card over Firefly? I'll never understand how anyone liked that show at all. No accounting for taste, I guess...

Interesting use of the past tense there, considering Windows usage still dwarfs Mac OS usage.
Important safety tip, thanks!
I mean, duh. How else will you detect ghosts? Also make sure you have your proton pack and trap, to catch them once you find them!
That's true as well. There are some episodes of the new season which I didn't like that much at first, but are much better when I re-watch them.

It already is on Netflix, has been for at least a few weeks.
...censorship is a powerful weapon that should be wielded with care and, if you support the notion of freedom of speech at all...
Trouble is, many people don't support freedom of speech. They support freedom of speech for ideas they want to hear.

I hope you're joking, because the notion that all religious people are bigots, or that all bigots are religious, is itself bigotry.

You need to use paragraph tags. For all the redesign of the site, they haven't managed to write a parser to put those in for us. Figures.
