There is an extreme difference between first world vegans who refuse to step outside of their diet ever and do not practice time honored tradition and read the "science reports' and buy shit food from American companies.

And real Veganism. Or diets simply light on meat but supplemented with other sources of protein and fat. 1 out of 100 "Vegans" I have ever met even know anything realistic and pragmatic about their diets. That means 99 % of them are idiots killing themselves just as bad as Big Mac Lovers.

P.S. A varied diet is the best diet you can ever have. The more varied and rich (pun intended) your diet is. The healthier you'll ever be. And every individual has a tendency to want foods that are better suited to their individual needs once you take the sugar and corn syrup off the table.

Agreed. But this may have not been the right time or place to pursue these individuals. Particularly if the cop could identify they were wanted before engaging them. But if he was in the process of making an arrest and there was a show of force. I could bend the rules and say maybe they needed to be stopped. But fleeing from the scene after one of their fellows were shot by an officer of the law is pretty normal.

I cannot judge them because the information available is limited. Honestly they could have been wanted for any number of crimes. Where would you draw the line?

I would probably pursue if they were very dangerous criminals with multiple murder charges. If there can be a trial after they evade arrest and they can be charged guilty by a jury than it is fair to just kill them on site. This is of course if they were actually served and denied the court summons or fled prior arrest. And if their crimes and judgement befits capitol punishment.

But even dangerous people in this country who were not charged and found guilty for a capitol offense deserve the chance to demonstrate peaceful behavior. Maybe you are afraid that complete lawlessness and chaos would erupt under such a noble gesture. But all they have to do is screw it up once enough that their peers find them unworthy of second chances. This assumes a fair justice system.

Our justice system is not always fair.

That is why many argue that perhaps in this case they should have been let go. We cannot judge this without all the facts. That may come out later if the law enforcement officers are charged. Which I doubt. Question is who gets to make that call as well. Perhaps we have laws and regulations and rules and procedures to help the majority of people make these hard decisions. Again I am not educated enough to say for sure. Personally when someone innocent is killed I think all parties involved should be held accountable and they should be examined by the full extent of the law. It is the responsibility an officer bears by being elevated to the position of using deadly force. Just like in the military a commander can be held accountable for the loss of an Airplane, or civilian casualties. Even if it was not their intention. It is how we select the BEST to protect and serve.

But I would have let them go for anything less than murder.

Emulators are already advanced enough for anything done with windows 3.1 or dos back on pentium ones. As we move forward you will get better virtualization and emulation of that hardware. It's worth it to keep the original game data.

There are also projects like Exult. Or Ioquake that keep that data viable long past its shelf life. People still mod retro game engines, like the infinity engine. There's occasionaly a new mod or a patch to old mods from time to time for BGII and BGI. People do stuff like BGTutu.

This is a few examples. There might be others that I don't know about. Everquest I will still be around probably long after the SoE servers shut down in some form or fashion. At least the code for good server emulators exists. Hopefully it will get released to the public when the time is right.

People still do occasionally even play Diablo II over lan play using IP tunneling and an IPX protocol hack or Icewind dale ii. As well. Same goes for the original Warcraft II games. It's fun if you've never played them before. If I had a child I wanted to teach about gaming technology I would involve them by doing that with them. Or teaching them how to mod engines like infinity engine.

I could see a future museum were you can play obscure games like "Outcast". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outcast_(video_game) because they were interesting milestones in game development. Outcast being a particularly interesting voxel game engine somewhat ahead of it's time.
