The question was about data _access_ times not transfer rates. The article states "The data-access time for the new storage technology is predicted to be around 100 Mbps." Access times are not measured in Mbps, Id like to see an access time in milliseconds. Id guess that the mechanical parts in this design would limit access times to pretty much the same as current HDs, or even greater as there is a need to focus something to read the multiple layesrs.
I would love to run Slackware on my sparcs. I have thought about doing it myself, but I just don't have enough time.
