    After installing chrome my linux machine's user agent doesn't even register as linux.. Hell it even has the word "safari" in there for some reason so I wouldn't be so quick to claim that linux desktop usage is dropping.

    Also if you look at the trend it normally bounces up and down a lot.

    Read all that then tell me that Linus has an ego here. It seems to me that Linus is the only level headed guy and you're just trying to distort what really happened.

    - He choose CFS over SD because SD behaviour was inconstant among users' computers
    - Con would argue with people sending him problems rather then accept them as problems with his code
    - Linus didn't want code in the kernel that would only work well for certain users
    - Linus didn't want code maintained by someone that was so hostile to others' critique
    - Linus states that he believes the desktop is an important platform

    There's an RC2 for maverick that is .37 so I doubt it's going to be April.

    I didn't realise that windows 95 could compile the linux kernel while playing HD video at the same time with no slow downs. Thanks for your insightful comment.

    Linksys' newer routers do IPv6. There isn't a UI for it but if you plug it in it'll work.

    So if my computer distributes copyrighted movies without my knowledge then it is also not my fault, am I right? or does the situation change when it's an actual person rather then a faceless company breaking copyright laws?

    I'd rather they simply built more power stations and charged more per kWh. Same with ISPs. Charge per GB, advertise better response times and not just higher bandwidth. I'd be all over that.

    Only problem I have with Theora is that encoding from something else to Theora turns out looking like crap. This isn't the codecs fault, it simply looses information however it's a big deal when you're running a video site like YouTube. It means anyone that uploads to your site needs the source material which hasn't already been encoded into some other format such as h264 which unfortunately almost always the case.
